Pamela Anderson is set to star opposite Liam Neeson in Paramount's upcoming The Naked Gun reboot. This new iteration of Leslie Nielsen's classic will be directed and executive produced by Akiva Schaffer, per Deadline.

Anderson, renowned for her role in Baywatch, where she appeared in 110 episodes, is no stranger to the comedy genre. Her performances in Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie showcased her flair for satirical comedy, aligning perfectly with the spirit of Naked Gun. Additionally, she reprised her iconic role of C.J. Parker in the 2017 big-screen adaptation of Baywatch, featuring stars like Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario.

The script for the reboot has been crafted by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who previously collaborated on the Emmy-winning Disney+ film Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers. They are joined by Schaffer in this creative endeavor. The production is being spearheaded by Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins through their company, Fuzzy Door, with Daniel M. Stillman serving as an executive producer.

Naked Gun draws its roots from the Police Squad! TV series, which also starred Leslie Nielsen as Lt. Frank Drebin. The original film series, known for its absurd humor and clever sight gags, was a significant box office success in the early 1990s, generating over $216 million domestically. Created by the masterminds behind Airplane!, Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker, the series became famous for its sharp parody and relentless comedic pacing.

The Naked Gun Has Liam Neeson Feeling Jittery

During an interview with MovieWeb, Liam Neeson expressed his concerns about his latest film role, as he prepares to take on the comedic mantle of Lt. Frank Drebin. While promoting his current film In the Land of Saints and Sinners, Neeson, known predominantly for his intense and often brooding roles in action films, admitted to feeling "nervous" about this venture into full-length feature comedy.

"I've done a couple of, like, TV skits with Stephen Colbert and Ricky Gervais, but those were two minutes, three minutes tops. But I'm a bit nervous about Naked Gun, because it's a feature film... If he tests it well, which I'm sure he will, Akiva Schafer is our writer-director. And there's lots of funny gags, lots of funny visual gags happening at the same time while 'serious things' are being discussed, you know?"

He also reassured fans that the upcoming film is not just a retread of past glories but a fresh take on the franchise. Neeson said:

“It's not a remake. It's a reboot. It's a totally different thing. I think we start in May and shoot for a couple of months or so. It's a good script but it's still developing. You know, there's about three laugh-out-loud moments, but we need seven or eight."

The Naked Gun is set to premiere in theaters on July 18, 2025.
