Dorsey High School Reviews
Rating 3.37 out of 5 220 reviews
My experience attending Dorsey was lackluster at best. There are pedophilic teachers, teachers that don't teach, teachers who thrive off of arguing with students and vice versa, and overall there were only a few teachers that actually wanted to teach their students something. The diversity and representation in the clubs are not good and I found myself not being in most. There are a lot of bad kids in this school so find the ones that actually want to be something in life or they'll drag you down with them. The bathrooms are locked all of the time and when they are open, they're missing basic things like toilet paper, seat covers, and period products(which is ILLEGAL!!! read about it). They claim they're doing it to minimize the amount of students doing drugs in the bathroom but at the end of the day, the people it's hurting the most are the kids that actually have to use it and worse the women on their periods. Join a college prep program because the college counselor sucks.
My experience at Dorsey high school has been overall good. I feel being here has enabled me to want to be my best self, and to utilize all the resources they have to offer. Because of that I’ve been able to expand both my knowledge on differing pathways beyond high school and on the different interests I have. I’ve been able to learn more about myself most importantly; allowing me to focus on strengthening what I am good at and bettering things I need to work on.
Being at Dorsey I didn't fit in because I was new and didn't know anyone. The teachers were respectful; they taught me various things relating to their subjects. I transitioned into my senior year. I had barely gotten out of my social space. I had chosen to come out and be more open to the school, like sports and staying at the after-school program, I then took a class that required me to graduate, which was composition lit, and the teacher I had wasn't really what I expected. He was lecturing students about what comes about when you turn 18. Not only that, he had made an event called Professional Monday; it wasn't anything I had seen. It was where students came together like a social gathering dressed professionally to prepare them when they become adults. Not many male students have ever put on a suit before. I was also part of the event, and I had never in my life dressed like that before. I had gotten to socialise with others; it was a great experience for me at Dorsey High School.
