My high school experiences vary between the good and bad in different scenarios. It is highly suggested that high school is the best experience. I believe that being in a calming, stress-free environment will keep you in a better mindset. Some great examples of me enjoying high school would be having some caring teachers. They really kept me going throughout the school years and in addition, I was able to visit their classrooms and it made it so comforting to say the least. However, everything has its downsides and high school isn't picture perfect like how movies show them to be. At this high school I attended, I would have liked a later start time for school since we start at 7:15 AM Monday through Friday. Meanwhile, other schools don't start until about 8:30 AM or so. Even though this is a minor issue to some people, I believe sleep should be a higher priority to schools. These are a few experiences that I endured that I would like to see change on in the next few years.
I've been in the edwardsville school district since 3rd grade and i think that growing up i was so excited for high school. I've been a bit let down, though. There's a lot of fights, smoking, and drugs going around and the administrators don't really do anything. The lunch food is questionable, too. I can never really tell what it is and if it's edible, so I always bring my own lunch box and then extra for my friends.
I feel that EHS is a fairly average school. However, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. People vape and smoke weed in the bathrooms all the time and earlier this school year someone stole an entire urinal from one. Other than that, though, the teachers are pretty normal, the students are pretty normal, and the rest of the building is pretty normal. I do, however, harbor a strong dislike for the amount of projects we do.
