A quote from the Bluestar's Prophecy text... “What are you going to call them?” White-eye mewed, padding from her nest.
“The dark gray she-kit will be Mistykit,’ Bluefur purred. “And the gray tom, Stonekit.” She wanted to give them names that reminded her of the river.
“What about this one?” Thrushpelt stroked the tiny pale-gray-and-white kit with the tip of his tail.
“Mosskit,” Bluefur decided.
she straight-away thought of named for the other two, but needed someone to ask her what she'll name Mosskit. Imagine Thrushpelt wasn't there. Also, to be honest, what kind of terrible name is MOSSkit, compared to the others? "She is already gone. There is nothing you can do."
"Bluefur gathered Mosskit between her paws. Mistykit and Stonekit stirred at her belly but didn’t wake. She wasnt supposed to die!"
"It was her time. Snowfur’s mew echoed in her ears. I'll take care of her in StarClan."
"Snowfur’s scent faded and the icy tang of leaf-bare filled the snow-hole once more. Mosskit didn’t move."
She didn't even bury the poor thing. Just left the snow to do it. You could argue that she didn't want Mosskit to die, and yes, that's true. I just know that she was being treated worse than the others. She left her kits in a hole, with Mosskit conveniently at the bottom. It was freezing outside, and bound to happen. I just wonder what would've happened if Bluestar made more smart choices...

After she dropped off Mistykit and Stonekit with Oakheart, she went back and dug a deeper hole beneath the snow so foxes or other predators wouldn't dig up her body. Bluestar's Prophecy pg. 486-7. She was also mentioned to be very protective of her littlest kit.

Just because Bluefur named Mosskit last doesn't really mean anything, though. It's not like she hesitates anyway, nor is there ever any evidence she loved Mosskit any less than any of her other kits. As for the burial, it happens right after Bluefur takes Mistykit and Stonekit to RiverClan.
Maybe you somehow missed a paragraph or misread something somehow?
