Fans meet actors William Fichtner, Kim Coates during filming at SUNY Cortland

Actor William Fichtner and the production team shot scenes Wednesday for his new film "Cold Brook," at SUNY Cortland's campus.

Fichtner is making his debut as a director for the film. He's also co-writer and co-producer on the project. A Cheektowaga native, Fichtner is best known for his acting roles in "The Dark Knight," "Armageddon" and "Black Hawk Down."

The film stars Kim Coates of "Sons of Anarchy" and Brad Kenke of "Orange Is the New Black."

Campus turned into a movie set Wednesday and fans got a chance to schmooze with Fichtner, Coates and the filming crew.

Coates(center) took photos with Gonda Gebhardt(green top), Lee Scott Mack (blue glasses) and other fans. Gebhardt is the associate director in the Office of International Programs at SUNY Cortland while Mack is an associate registrar in the same program.

The production crew filmed at two locations on campus. One was located on Graham Avenue crosswalk in front of Brockway Hall, and the other area was on Holloway Field near the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.

Fichtner talked to some students who are extras in the film.A SUNY Brockport graduate, Fichtner filmed earlier this month in Buffalo at businesses and residences.

This new director is a well-known Buffalo Bills fan.
