I am triple disappointed with my last attempt to visit Mandarin. First: birthday coupon. I have been a customer for many years and used to receive the birthday coupon in about two weeks before my birthday - it gave me the time to plan a...visit one week before or after the birthday. This time the coupon arrived exactly on my birthday, making it impossible to come prior and cutting the coupon in half timewise. Second: customer service. Prior to make the reservation I checked at the website and noticed that you reduced the "small eats" concept to only two times a week - Monday and Tuesday lunch. I made the reservation for Monday (Dec.5) lunch specifically mentioned (by phone) that our company would have "small eats". The person who took the reservation confirmed "small eats". Imagine our disappointment when we came to the restaurant to discover that Mandarin discontinued the "small eats" concept. Third: business decision - eliminating "small eats" concept is the biggest drawback for me. I thought that the idea was brilliant, allowing us to pay reasonable price for what we actually eat, without stuffing ourselves in order to justify the stiff price of the buffet. I hoped that the "small eats" will become the permanent feature of Mandarin. By eliminating this concept the restaurant effectively lost me and thousand potential customers.More

Our dinner was take out and consisted of 7 items that we have ordered and enjoyed before at this restaurant, but this was a terrible experience as the quality of the food was unacceptable. The Zesty beef was fried, which was unexpected, and was like...they breaded and fried jerky, the Sweet and Sour Soo Gai was not identifiable as chicken, it and the General Tao Chicken were also over fried and dry. Only the Terriyaki Chicken and Peking Style Pork had tender meat. The chicken fried rice would benefit from less soya sauce, better to allow the diner to add if needed. I usually only do reviews when I have good things to say and they are warranted. But this was expensive and really not up to our expectations based on previous experience, so I wanted to share. Hope this was just a bad day for this restaurant, but we won’t be back.More

First visit ever, for lunch. First impression….outstanding! Greeted by a cheerful smile upon arriving and asked “is this your first visit”? What followed was a ‘tour’ of the buffet area with each section being explained. It was then to our table (for 2) and seated....Just a few moments later a server arrived, again with the “is this your first visit.” And a nice smile…..Such a pleasant person as we were given a “hot towel” to wipe our hands etc. and drink orders taken. Off we went to the buffet. A massive choice which could satisfy the desire of any eater indeed! Rather than getting into specific details, let’s just say that EVERYTHING was fresh, hot, well presented with every single item having a ‘label’ & the calorie count for same!! Never seen that before anywhere! Every single item had its own serving utensil, so ‘cross-contamination’ minimized. (allergy concerns). All of the food was delicious and needless to say, it was tough having to “choose” LOL! Upon getting our bill, (reasonable $$ given current restaurant prices) again our server presented a hot wet towel and fully explained the line items on the bill and, had the remote credit card reader with her. Overall, her very pleasant service & attentiveness to ensure a great customer experience was exemplary! No question that we will return!More

After more than 2 years, due to the pandemic, we couldn't wait to return to our favorite Chinese restaurant: the Mandarin / Nepean. This Sunday, for lunch, it was reasonably busy, the welcome still just as warm and the service perfect. The buffets, from salads...to desserts, always filled with typical and very varied dishes (good surprise to find a "clam chowder" among the Chinese soups. I tried it, it was creamy and excellent). A few new styles of sushi, a delicious shrimp ceviche (from Matane?), a just-spiced mango salad, and in general we found all the dishes that made the Mandarin famous. As an appetizer, I prepared a plate with a sample of each of the five shrimp recipes to choose from the buffets, accompanied by a few cold mussels, with the clam chowder on the side. What a start!! Of course, it's impossible to taste everything. The staff always smiling and attentive. To help themselves to the buffets, customers must wear single-use gloves provided in each dining room. When customers leave, the table is completely cleaned. There is enough space around the buffets to avoid any jostling. I think the reputation of the Mandarin is second to none, and I'm already thinking about the next visit.More

Between March and September, 2022 my wife and I have had about 8 lunches at Mandarin (Nepean) for a number of birthdays (of family and friends), our 49th Anniversary and meeting 2 new friends who recently (April 2022) arrived from Ukraine. In every occasion, the...ambiance was comfortable and welcoming, the staff was friendly, helpful and fast in removing our finished plates. We liked the health precautions for the pandemic. The warm hand towels upon arrival and at meal completion were great treats which are rare in the restaurant industry nowadays. Our Ukrainian friends were totally impressed! Cheers to the staff (Jenny in particular) as we can count on your good food and quality services each time. We appreciate the Senior Discount as well.More

We were a party of 12 celebrating my daughter's 12th birthday. While we have eaten at this location a few times and have only ever experienced good food and service, this time around we were lucky to be seated in Tracy's (Joy, Yaya) section who...really helped to elevate our experience (great sense of humour and just overall very friendly). A complimentary birthday treat, singing and picture to capture the time together as a family was also greatly appreciated.More

Wow, this was our first visit to this Mandarin restaurant. There were nine of us family members for lunch, and each and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The choices are extensive, well presented, very tasty. We were impressed with the sevice, it was...excellent. We will be definitely be going back to this restaurant for our next get together.More

I haven't been to a buffet style restaurant in a long time because I don't tend to each as much as in my younger days. I was invited to the restaurant as part of a group. I did not intend to eat much but found...myself going back for several plates of food and then dessert. The main reason being the food was really good and so much variety. To be honest, I was impressed with both the variety and freshness of the food. It was delicious is how I sum it up. Of course I wasn't able to try out all the available dishes as thereis too much variety. I did fit in one slice of roast beef and and glad I tried it. As good as anywhere I have been. The service was very prompt as the wait staff remove your old plate when you go to get more food.More

Being one of my son's birthday and him having some friends we all end up at this nice buffet restaurant where the service was great and the food tasteful and well presented for a buffet. I'm more into sea food and good soup but also...diversified items were well received. Their shrimps and scallops were so well flavored and different types of exotic food completed the experience. Of course my usual Bloody Caeser was added to this at a reasonable price. The waiter was candid enough to provide a little birthday cake to the 2 celebrating young men (my son and school friend) and he even took a picture and offered us complimentary copies as a souvenir of our visit.More

This place was terrible. The quality of the food was about as bad as I have ever had. The only way this place gets a high rating is because it’s an all you can eat buffet, and the rating is based on quantity and not...quality. No way I will ever go back!More

Busy venue and obvious why. The buffet eat as much as you like is a very appealing eating option. The dining areas are divided into sections, family with kids and couples or older folk which I thought was a great idea. Large selection of Chinese...food dished, hot and fresh. Soups available as are salads and plenty of dessert choices including pastries, ice cream and fresh fruit. Mains had seafood, fish and chicken variety even Yorkshire pudding and carvery meat, masked potato and gravy for those not 2antingchinese. The whole meal delicious.More

Mandarin Nepean is a popular AYCE food emporium for people who like to eat !!! The selection of buffet items is impressive from soups to suschi to shrimp to salads. They have it all and its all freshly served an replenished as needed. Service is...second to none with smiling friendly waiters and waitresses.
