My overall experience at my school was satisfying. Coming back from online school after 2020 was scary because I still didn't know what an high school environment felt. However, I can say I had a great 3 years at my high school. Spending the years wisely and enjoying every second by making amazing long-life friends, joining sports such as Cross-Country and Track & Field, and also getting involved with the school activities such as football games, homecoming, and even prom. Yet, it wasn't easy everyday. Being raised with a single mother; it was a stressful environment to be in, knowing that my mother wellness was not the best. The stress of getting good grades in all my classes and to have an average GPA of 3.4 was hard. Putting a lot of my time and effort to my academics was stressful, but I couldn't say my mother didn't help me. It's hard to not mention my mother in my high school experience, we were together through the best and worst times and she helped me in many ways.
At Brea Olinda High School, the location is awesome and it has a great view on the top of a big hill looking over the city. The campus is beautiful, open, and always clean. The teachers are nice and all seem to enjoy their jobs. Sports, clubs, and activities are limitless, and they're all engaging for students and fun to do. The only downside is the food and the bathroom policies. The bathroom policies are too strict at times, limiting your freedom to use the bathroom during class due to teacher-student trust issues from past school year incidents. Many bathrooms are closed during the day and students are required to sign in and out of class. As for the food, though free, it is neither good tasting nor healthy. The one thing I would like to change is the quality of the food; I want students to eat nutritious meals and enjoy them at the same time. Apart from that, Brea Olinda High School is an amazing school with great teachers, a stunning campus, and exceptional student activities.
I loved attending BOHS. I loved the freedom to choose what clubs and extracurricular activities to be part of due to the many options. I wish the environment of morality were held to a higher standard; sometimes, there was a lot of negativity and bad examples among people and students. Not that that is the school's fault, but I think continuing to pursue the importance of no vaping and no drugs is essential.
