Wheeling High School is consistently ranked among the best high schools in Illinois and across the nation. The school serves more than 1,700 students in grades 9 through 12, offering a well-rounded academic curriculum as well as high-quality co-curricular options. The student to teacher ratio is 19:1.

WHS is one of six comprehensive high schools in High School District 214. The communities continue their strong support of an excellent school system, ensuring an annual operating expenditure per student of more than $22,000.
