An underappreciated sports drama about girls' basketball that deserves more attention.
Fairly decent sports drama that doesn’t do anything really original or great with its ideas, but it manages to be an entertaining time waster nonetheless. The cast do what they can with the basic script and they manage to bring out some of the better elements out of the underdeveloped story. The film is entertaining, but so much more could have been accomplished to create a sports drama that really grabbed your attention. This one, on the other hand plays it safe and it is a film is fairly predictable in how things play out. The film is enjoyable, but so much more could have been done and it feels like it rushed a bit and there was no emphasis…
The female version of Hoosiers.
The biggest problem is that apart from one of the team's girl, virtually no work was made into fleshing a few of them or giving them some background. The protagonist is not particularly compelling and the antagonist is pretty ridiculous in its twirling moustache villainous ways. The game scenes aren't particularly good either. However, there are a few good moments, and i did enjoy it overall, although i doubt i'll ever revisit it. This could have been better.
A straight forward sports movie set in a small town Oklahoma setting. Predictable in every aspect, but based on the true story of Coach Jim Keith. That alone is enough to hand out a little belief in human kind.
