      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It may not be the finest film to come from the Marvel Universe, but Thor: The Dark World still offers plenty of the humor and high-stakes action that fans have come to expect.

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Loki is the only character who makes himself new and interesting. When he is around, Thor: The Dark World becomes a different film altogether. You wish there was more of him. The rest of it is metal clanking. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 18, 2019 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk This feels like a really, really, expensive episode of Doctor Who. In a good way. Rated: 4/5 Sep 6, 2017 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire Save for Hiddleston's too-brief supporting turn, this is mighty forgettable stuff, a by-the-numbers sequel to what was already the slightest and least entertaining of the 'Avengers' components. Jun 18, 2016 Full Review Joseph Garcia Dynamic Duel Podcast The high-fantasy worldbuilding and story align with what the Norse mythological superhero's adventures should be – generic villain notwithstanding. Rated: 4/5 Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) It’s by no means a great movie or anything, but it’s got a very good Tom Hiddleston performance and moves at a satisfying clip. Feb 27, 2024 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Dives deeper into the lore and mythology of the character more than other MCU entries, but there might be a reason other entries are more surface-level adventures. First name L This used to the be the weakest Marvel entry; stage 4, I mean phase 4 entries, makes it look servicable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Charlie M Just generic. It doesn’t do anything particularly well, or offensive. I’ve never really wanted to come back to it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/31/24 Full Review Audience Member The biggest filler in the MCU. This movie has the least interesting story in marvel history, and a very forgettable last act. The only saving grace is the interactions between Thor and Loki. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/18/24 Full Review Christian W Truly the weakest link of the early MCU lineup. Malekith does prove himself as a threat whenever they break down the walls of Asgard but a character who is evil because he just wants power to conquer the world and its realms is boring and Malekith is portrayed that way as well, boring and nothing really to do. None of the down moments lead to much payoff. This movie feels like just there to introduce the Aether and that is about it and that is now in the Collector's possession. Still good but slow and character moments are boring in this one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Aiden G It is SO boring! Chris Hemsworth is a great actor, but he didn't deserve this as a stamp on his career. The plot is lackluster, and over all, the worst MCU movie ever. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Ryan H The only good part is when Loki turned into Captain America. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
