Bruce Campbell confirms his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo after years of teasing fans. The first Marvel Studios movie of 2022 continues on from Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw a Doctor Strange-spell-gone-wrong open up the MCU to variants from other universes. After holding its official premiere earlier this week, Doctor Strange 2 hits theaters this Friday, May 6.

While fans have spent a lot of energy theorizing potential Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameos, particularly once Patrick Stewart's Professor X was confirmed, those who care about the movies of director Sam Raimi have been most interested in one actor's appearance. Since meeting in high school, Raimi and Campbell have been close collaborators, with the latter either starring or cameoing in many of the former's projects. While Campbell being in London during Doctor Strange 2 filming got the rumors circulating, he has remained coy, noting that, even if he had filmed material, the constant reshoots and story changes would make it impossible for him to know if he had made the final cut.

Now that the movie has been screened, however, Campbell finally acknowledges his Doctor Strange 2 cameo. Someone on Twitter who has seen the movie confirms that the actor does appear in it, both in the main runtime and in one of the end-credits scenes. In his response, Campbell jokes that people now have a good reason to go see the superhero blockbuster. While they might not be surprised, fans are sure to be relieved at confirmation of Campbell's MCU appearance. The Evil Dead star has a dedicated following, and in addition to being an enjoyable screen presence, he's also just good at performing memorable cameos - he appears in all three of Raimi's Spider-Man movies, and his one-scene characters have stuck around in viewers' memories. Raimi even revealed that he planned to have Campbell appear as Mysterio in Spider-Man 4, which the director still regrets not being able to realize.

For many, this element will only build excitement for Raimi's return to directing, since this is his first feature to release in nine years. While some have worried that his artistic signature would be buried beneath Marvel's house style, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reviews have assured audiences that the movie is undeniably Raimi's, even if it is somewhat weighed down by the responsibility to universe-build. Now, fans will be eager to see just who Campbell plays, be it a variant of a major MCU character, a bit-part, or even a return to one of his Spider-Man cameos.
