The History of French Silent Film
France has an incredible history of silent film. Many of the technical advances and creative trailblazers that make film what it is today were born on French soil. From innovators like the Lumiere's and Melies to visionaries like Guy-Blache and Gance, some of the most creative minds have honed their craft producing legendary French films. This episode honors their contributions to silent film and film in general.

Charlie Chaplin's Youth - 1889 to 1901
To celebrate the birthday of silent film legend Charlie Chaplin on April 16, the Golden Silent Films Podcast looks back at the earliest years of "The Little Tramp." His upbringing is a tale of tumult and heartache that eventually leads him from the workhouses of London to the lights of Vaudeville stages, all by the age of 11.
