UPDATE: The “Shelter in place” advisory put out last night by East Lansing police has been lifted. Police say there is no threat to the public at this time.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — East Lansing Public Safety issued a shelter-in-place advisory Monday night for 16789 Chandler and the surrounding area after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

A release sent out by police after the incident explained what happened after the call. They say that when officers arrived on the scene, they immediately set up a perimeter around the apartment building.

After further investigation, authorities found that no gunshots had been fired, according to the release.

Police say that one person was detained but later released after further investigations revealed that no crime had been committed.

ELPD social workers were also on-site to provide mental health resources to those affected by the incident.
