Wake Tech Foundation Scholarships

- Foundation scholarships are available to students enrolled in or who will be enrolled in Curriculum Education programs.
- If you are not currently enrolled at Wake Tech, you will need to apply to the college first in order to receive your Wake Tech key account, which you will need in order to access the scholarship application.
- Some Foundation scholarships are awarded purely based on financial need; however, most require a GPA of at least 2.0 (Wake Tech’s requirement for graduation).
Two scholarships are specifically for Garner High School seniors - The GEDC Endowment for Education and the Yeargan Endowed Scholarship.
Students will submit a general scholarship application and will be considered for all Wake Tech Foundation Scholarships in which they qualify.

Dr. Thomas Dameron Scholarship

- Must have the desire to pursue a medical or allied health career(including athletic trainers, nursing, PAs, therapists, etc.)

Garner Rotary Speech Contest

Students will write and present a 6-7 minute speech.
There will also be 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, & 4th place winners.
Students will sign up with Ms. Cottengim to be eligible.

Garner Rotary (Morning Club) Scholarship

- Be sure to demonstrate/explain your level of community involvement/service.
- ****The application packet will be in student services for students.
All completed applications must be submitted to Mr. Brown in the student services department. Please pay attention to the deadline. No applications will be accepted after April 18th.

Emma L Cunningham Memorial Scholarship 2024

- All senior students planning to attend college or vocational school and meet the criteria requirements should consider applying for the Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship.
- Graduating senior student from GMHS
- Average GPA 2.5 or higher
- Acceptance letter from a university, college, or vocational school

SECU People Helping People Scholarship

- Must be a senior at a North Carolina public high school
- Must be a SECU member or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian
- Must be a United States citizen, a resident of North Carolina, and eligible for in-state tuition
- Must be accepted to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities as a full-time undergraduate
- Must have demonstrated scholastic achievement with a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement
- Must file FAFSA as part of the application
Students are highly encouraged to turn in applications well ahead of the deadline as there are several components to the application. There will be no extension for incomplete applications or applications that are not in the correct format.
The Garner Magnet High School Scholarship Committee will review the applications, conduct interviews, and select the GMHS scholarship recipient.

Thurgood Marshall/Nike Scholarship

- Must plan on attending the following Colleges/Universities
- Atlanta University Center Consortium (Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, or Spelman College)
- Hampton University
- LeMoyne-Owen College
- Morgan State University
- North Carolina A&T University
- Tennessee State Univerity
- Texas Southern University
- Tuskegee University
- GPA has to be 3.0 or higher
- Must have completed Fasfa on file and demonstrate a financial need.
- Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident, or passport stamped I-551.
