Will Keane, who had a previous loan spell at the DW Stadium in 2013, joined Latics last October following a successful pre-season with the Club.
Keane was a standout performer for Latics last season, and enjoyed the most prolific campaign in his career to date to help fire Leam Richardson's side to safety in League One against all of the odds.
After making his second debut for Latics in the trip to Crewe Alexandra, the former Manchester United academy graduate went on to make 32 league appearances in the 2020/21 season, scoring 10 goals.
Following a consistent run of matches, Keane was able to really flourish and hit sensational form during towards the end of the season. He scored five times in the last seven games, resulting in the forward earning the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award in April.
The exciting forward started the 2021/22 campaign in the same manner that he finished the last, scoring the winner in our DW Stadium homecoming against Rotherham United in August. Keane continued his fine scoring form, and followed it up with further goals against Doncaster Rovers, Accrington Stanley, Gillingham, Bolton Wanderers and Fleetwood Town in the first few months of the League One season.
His excellent form was rewarded with a first senior call-up for the Republic of Ireland in September, with Keane later making his debut for Stephen Kenny's side in the goalless draw against Portugal in November.
