As told in the Book of Ruth, Ruth was a Moabite princess, who was dissatisfied with the idol-worship of her own people. A paradigm of loyalty and faith, she accompanied her mother-in-law, Naomi, to the Land of Judah, accepting a life of poverty among people she admired.

Upon arrival in Bethlehem, she found kindness, acceptance, and love—becoming the ancestress of King David.
