What travelers are saying
- BKAndersMeridian, ID264 contributionsHaving heard great things about Omaha's zoo, we were excited to visit it for ourselves. We were NOT disappointed -- it was as good as advertised!
My wife and I spent over 4 hours exploring the zoo and only saw about half of the exhibits. We especially enjoyed the Desert Dome and its underground sections, the Giraffes, the Lions with their "pride rock", the Aquarium, the Elephants... actually, everything we saw!
We ate lunch at the Treetop Restaurant overlooking the Lied Jungle while watching the monkeys play.
We will return when our grandkids come to visit and see the exhibits that we didn't have time for this time.Written May 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Spend some time in the huge park called Gene Leahy Mall (not a retail mall) at the Riverfront, which is adjacent to Old Market. We loved upscale V. Mertz restaurant in The Passage for a special event dinner. We also had meals at Jam's--touristy but lots of choices on the menu; Tupelo Honey, Southern inspired food with some modern touches; Twisted Fork Grill and Bar, also touristy but with great outside seating to enjoy the view. It's a fun place to walk, a renovated old warehouse and manufacturing district, and you can read about or ask about the history of the various buildings. Lots of security on weekend nights but we never felt unsafe walking.Written May 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WestportTravelGuyWestport, CT149 contributionsWe visited the gardens in February, so we knew that most of the outdoor areas were not in season. Fortunately, the gardens featured an exhibit with dinosaurs made out of Legos, spread throughout the inner greenhouse areas, so that made the visit well worth it.Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - findjoyLittleton, CO33 contributionsThe view was amazing and it was great fun to walk between two states. The bridge is well maintained and the parks are beautiful especially on the Omaha side of the bridge.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aaron ShelbyAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates434 contributionsMy family and I stopped by during our road trip to Lincoln during summer 2023. The garden was immaculate. We enjoyed our leisurely visit and appreciated the wide variety of flowering plants along with the animals living in the park. You wouldn't even know you were right in the middle of the city if you weren't familiar with the area. This is a hidden treasure for Lincoln and the state of Nebraska - Make sure you visit!Written April 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nancy A270 contributionsIf you are anywhere near Lincoln you should stop and see the capitol building. It's just spectacular. I was here on a Saturday, so parking was easy. You can take a guided tour, or do a self guided tour.Written May 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alicia_JAChicago331 contributionsWe stopped here to get a close look at the arch but the museum inside was a fantastic surprise. We were greeted at the door by a wonderful staff member who shared a little about the place. The visitor center inside was loaded with great information and here too the staff member was kind and friendly. The museum was a must see. The exhibits are incredible. Guests are guided through with an audio device that explains things very well. The gift shop was loaded with a variety of gifts. It was here I was able to find the sandhill crane sweatshirt I was hoping to purchase while in Nebraska.Written March 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GoingGone2018Dayton, OH66 contributionsThis is closed for reno but they have the MOST AMAZING collection of Native American artwork. This collection was painted by a man who traveled with a German prince in order to preserve the trip, like a photographer would now. You must read about this before you go. There are several books about it. Prince Maximilian of Wied-Neuwied - how these paintings ended up in Omaha is a huge gift to Omaha. I go there when I visit Omaha and am sad it is temporarily closed but will be glad to go again when they reopen. It is fantastic.Written September 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ladybug75 contributionsJust 15 minutes off 80. All of Nebraska feels like the middle of nowhere, but this is a great stop when you are traveling. It’s really a marvel to see a working rail yard. We had a great conversation with a wonderful volunteer and asked about the farm fields and the grain cars and the engine shop.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
