Took my parents for a visit. We were welcomed by really friendly staff as you show your tickets (we booked online). We had a lovely 3 hours wandering round. The coffee shop staff were friendly and patient and coffee and cake was really nice.
We enjoyed the penny machines, the ration book and sweets and a drink in the pub.
Would recommend to all and was nice to see children and adults of all ages enjoying the day.

A friend with a car suggested The Vyne, a compact 16thC on house - and I hadn’t heard of it, so was keen to go.

Very friendly staff, and knowledgeable guides throughout - shortage of volunteers meant the upper level in the house was closed. Several rooms with an impressive chapel. There was very little information in the rooms, which meant you either had to buy the guidebook or chat to the guide, which wasn’t always practical..

Excellent selection of secondhand books and knickknacks for sale, and an extremely well run tea rooms - wonderful baked potatoes - recommended! Plenty of room upstairs in the tea room for the copious families.. and their dogs.

Rebecca Ferguson concert in Basingstoke - she was very good and sounded the same live as on her recordings. Venue comfortable with good acoustics. Only criticism is the person responsible for the stage lighting needs to re-plan it. During the performance there was quite a few instances when the lights were blinding as they revolved around the auditorium then straight into the audience.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Booking was easy, pre event communication excellent and the venue and host Harry absolutely superb! Amazing to make our own gin using a still and botanicals to our taste. The opportunity to also try many lovely Gorilla gins with a choice of mixers - where a double is a standard measure !!! It was so much fun - and blessed with Harry who was so helpful and informative and responsible for making it such a brilliant experience ! I recommend taking a few snacks as they suggest and I definitely recommend this experience. Much better than other gin distillery experiences !

As I am knew to Basingstoke I wanted to get as much background to the town as I could. This is a well ordered local museum which has a great deal of information and artefacts from the area. A small volunteer, friendly staff run the museum and are very welcoming.. It is housed in the lovely old town hall. There are regular exhibitions, in addition to the main exhibits. Entry is free and there is also a cafe there.

Although this place is called Basing House, it is mostly only ruins to be seen. The reception is some distance from the car park, with a walk along the river Loddon. YOu get the tickets by the only standing building, a 16th century barn, and then have another walk along and across a road to get to the ruins. One needs a lot of imagination to figure our what the place might have looked like several centuries ago, but there is a short video in a room with a museum which helps explain the role of this house during the Civil War, when the fortified house was captures by Cromwell's forces. And aerial photograph there also helps.

Lovely park with lots of activities for children and adults. We went off season but still enjoyed a walk around the 2 lakes and area.

This is a fascinating and beautiful place, I loved it. Restful, the result of decades of hard work and love. The owners gave a good resume of their forty years of work to restore this lost Gertrude Jekyll garden, which is a true labour of love. The weather was not great, the welcome was all one could wish. Go, enjoy.

We visited to go shopping and to visit the cinema. We also had a meal as well. Lots of shops with lots of sales on. My favourite shop Apricot is here as well. Easy to park and access everything. Only downside is expensive parking charges.

A really pretty field of grass with a couple of picnic tables, bordered on one side by woodland and then the busy main road on the other side of the woodland. At the bottom of the hill is a small playground and zipwire, then beyond that are some lakes. My dogs have drunk from the lakes quite often. It can get very muddy down there, so I'd take wellies. Plenty of free parking at the top of the plantation and also at Blackdam Lakes (at the bottom of the plantation). You can easily spend an hour or two here - especially with a picnic, kites, and enjoying your dogs paddle in the stream.

Easy access and close parking plenty of food and drink outlets nearby. Clean good stage views. Bar area a little hectic as expected, should separate hot and cold drinks. Exit was well managed.
