Joven Longee Announced as SBS Varsity Men's Soccer Coach

Second Baptist School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Coach Joven Longee as the new head coach for the varsity men’s soccer team. Coach Longee, a devoted member of the Second Baptist community and former assistant coach, will now lead the program and join the upper school faculty as a Bible teacher.

Having served as an assistant coach since 2022 and interim head coach during the latter part of this season, Coach Longee has been instrumental in guiding our team to its first TAPPS 5A playoff appearance since 2016. His commitment to the team’s success and his desire to take on a full-time role demonstrate his dedication to our school’s mission and the development of our student-athletes.

Athletic Director Mike Walker had this to say about the promotion of Coach Longee: “I am excited for Coach Longee to lead our Men’s Soccer program here at SBS. He demonstrates a passion for impacting the lives of young men for Jesus Christ and has the knowledge and expertise to continue to grow the men’s soccer program to new levels of excellence” 

Coach Longee brings a rich background in sports management and hospitality, holding a bachelor's degree from Liberty University. His previous experience includes a tenure as head coach at the Emery/Weiner School and a role as a youth ministry pastor at Second Baptist Church, underscoring his strong leadership and community ties.

Under his leadership, the men’s soccer program at Second Baptist School has shown remarkable progress and is poised for continued success. Coach Longee’s philosophy aligns seamlessly with our commitment to honoring God, teaching young athletes about leadership and life, and striving for excellence in all endeavors.
