Overall, CDM provides students with all that they need to develop, and if compared to the public high school average, I'm sure that they would rank top 5 percentile in all these areas. The administration has had moments where things were not handled as well as they could have, but all-in-all they care for their students.
Kinda bad school. Not going lie but some of those teachers are just horrendous. One in particular very much grades boys better than girls.( you’ll know who that is quickly).
School is just mid, they have nothing to motivate students

Overall, a wonderful high school with a lot to offer. Probably my favorite part of the school was how much the teachers care about their students. I would like to see more opportunities for clubs on campus
I am pleased to say that I have two happy boys at CDM. It's a school that on the outside, at first glance, is known for kids who drive fancy cars and look like TikTok influencers. Beneath that exterior, however, is a wonderful sense of community. It's school where teachers, parents and students are truly engaged. Students like my boys -- who are serious academics who enjoy sports but aren't in the "in" crowds -- feel comfortable and fulfilled. The school offers a lot of clubs and activities that are meaningful and fun and truly do broaden students' hearts and minds. And academically, their is something for everyone. We have engineering, tech, arts and international academic programs to offer, and our college resources center offers knowledgeable advice on trade schools and community colleges just as much as 4-year universities. The school is not perfect, of course... but no school is. Overall, I feel grateful to have my boys there.
CDM HS is everything you imagine it to be when you realize what Newport Beach is like. You get to the school parking lot, and immediately know that blue Bentley parked there is not a teacher's car. But you don't know whether the skinny barely dressed female jumping out of it is a student or a well-preserved mom. As far as academics, most kids have private tutors, as not all subjects are taught at college prep level. Math teachers aren't great and send you to Khan Academy for anything more advanced than Alg 1. Sports programs are amazing, and that is probably the best part of the school.
Overall, I have a positive experience at my high school. I can feel that many of my teachers genuinely care and work to help student improve in academics. However, I would love to see my school less cliquish, and people more open to hanging out with, and generally being friendly to others. Additionally, the use of ChatGPT and other forms of cheating are common for students to use, and I would prefer it if students relied on their own work, because it is upsetting to see some students get the same amount of credit for their work than other students that used unfair methods.
"This school hinders freedom of thought, risking children's minds, lacking openness to diverse beliefs."
Not a safe school, avoid it at any cost, they are tyrannic and racist and they are biased. That all what I can tell you
Corona Del May High school is filled with racists who are actively teaching students to be silent against injustice.
Amazing experience! Great teachers, good curriculum, and excellent academic and athletic balance. Highly reccomend.
I enjoyed Corona Del Mar High School. What I would like to see changed is better counselors. I was fortunate enough to have one of the only good counselors at our school. Overall, the atmosphere is great and the people and staff create a great school culture with many opportunities for various activities.
Corona Del Mar High School is a great place for students who want to make the most out of their learning. In regular or non- excelled courses the quality of learning can be on the lower end, but in accelerated class there are fantastic teachers and a community of bright young adults. The campus is very safe and life at CDMHS is often peacefully uneventful.
I received a great education, made lots of friends, loved the sports, and activities. I love the location because it is close to the beach and it has nice weather. I had lots of choices in classes and electives.
Corona Del Mar is a great school that contains many amazing teachers, staff, and students. But like any large public school there is many areas that need improvements. I believe teachers need to be overseen more carefully. Only due to the fact that some teachers lesson plans aren’t beneficial to students or contain courses content at all. The way I have experienced some classes from some particular teachers only annoyed me because it seemed we would have to be on our own for much of the preparation for tests and quizzes. Many teachers simply don’t specify the correct content to know and can lead you the wrong way very easily. I have also witnessed multiple teachers being fired from their jobs for inappropriate behavior. It doesn’t reflect well on the school to have teachers going rouge. But Corona Del Mar has been great to me the last 3 years I have attended and its programs and courses are all available to help very much in preparation for college.
Great teachers, activities, resources, and college readiness. Excellent academics. Overall recommend
Almost all of the teachers at this school are motivated to help their students succeed, and are well educated in what they are teaching. This school is fairly strong in academics as well- I was able to be much more flexible with the classes I wanted to take at this school than at a school I was previously attending in Irvine. Although CDM does place a lot of emphasis on athletics, there are great music and arts programs as well. The choir, theater, and instrumental directors are very passionate about what they do, and work hard to bring many amazing opportunities to their students.
Has many opportunities for AP classes. Great PTA, Foundation, and Boosters Club. Has funding and events like a private school, even though it is a public school.
Terrible counseling department- actually, not only worthless , but detrimental. Will not help students in signing up for best classes to take. Students/parents have to figure out from outside sources for the ideal classes to take for college resume. Need outside college advice!
