For pre-1980 or so TV shows -- but not the usual Lucy or *Gunsmoke* reruns. This subreddit is for the ephemeral TV programs of the pre-VCR era -- the stuff no one ever expected to see again: newscasts, local kiddie shows and horror movie hosts, live TV dramas, game shows, soap operas, teen dance parties... Oh, and kinescopes. Lots and LOTS of kinescopes.

In these photos, Jean Stapleton was 50, Caroll O'Connor was 49, and Sally Struthers and Rob Reiner were both 26.
Notice they're dressed and arriving in vehicles like the rest of us in the day, looking down to earth.
Would that be the same display today in Hollywood?
Carrol and Mike look so happy to be there. Sally not so much.
She may have been caught off guard.
Wait a minute..... They are each dressed just like their characters would dress.... Did they have character wardrobes at home???
Not Jean. The rest just dressed in normal attire appropriate for their age groups, so their clothes would be similar. Jean would wear aprons and maw maw type dresses. She’s wearing a stylish suit here.
I love Carrol’s smile. Just rolled up in the Benz, for a sweet TV gig, what a time that must have been for all of them. Always watched it with my dad. People today wouldn’t understand Lear’s take on societal issues, being atheistic Polack meatheads lol.
Great post, thanks for sharing 👍
