Trade in paintings for mummies and historical artifacts on a tour of the British Museum. The enormous collection spans 6000 years of human history, featuring items from all over the world including Samurai armor and rare Assyrian lion hunt reliefs. Our guides will take a serious but enjoyable approach towards the museum’s galleries, discussing primitive tribes and fallen empires through a carefully chosen selection of items. You’ll learn about the Mummy of Katebet, the Lewis Chessmen, and the Rosetta Stone – the actual rock, not the language learning program. Walk away with an understanding of what we humans have achieved during our short history and hopefully you’ll be proud to call yourself a part of this incredible species.

      Outstanding Experience!
Our tour, with Shelton, at the National Gallery in London was truly exceptional (and we’ve been on many tours)! He provided historical context, information about the paintings, the artists, unique features, comparative analysis and so much more! He answered each and every one of my many questions and seemed to enjoy all of it! He also had a bright sense of humor - we appreciated his wit. Our morning with him was a memorable highlight. In the hierarchy of ratings you’ve provided for this review, I’ve selected the top rating, “very satisfactory” which totally understates our experience. Our tour guide was fabulous.

Jamie was knowledgeable and so very interesting. He made the museum manageable instead of overwhelming.
Jamie pointed things out to us that we probably would have overlooked. So grateful for his guidance and personal touch.

Perfect way to explore the Museum!
Our guide, Wesley, was fabulous! He was able to give us a great deal of insight into so many different civilisations and cultures. His knowledge is immense and definitely gave us a new found desire to learn more about history. So many wonderful pieces were explained to us in depth and in an easily understood manner. Free time at the end of the tour to explore at your own pace and interest. Highly recommend.

      Great guide.
Great tour guided by Wesley. He was very knowledgeable about the artifacts in the museum and we had a well paced but inclusive tour. We were able to see a large portion of the museum within 2.5 hours and still did not feel rushed.

      Highlights of British Museum
Wesley was such an excellent guide for the museum-he patiently waited for us stuck in traffic. We got to see all the high lights of the museum in the 3 hour tour, with his witty commentary. Highly recommend!

      Truly worthwhile
History is always perspectival, and it should be. What would history with a view from nowhere even be? Sheldon embraced this, including in the tour some of the history that brought about him as well as the history of artifacts that resonated with him personally. For us, that was exactly what we were looking for: something that made this enormous and overwhelming collection manageable and personable. Like his description of the Rosetta Stone, it’s the contingencies of its history, not the item itself, that makes it a world treasure. Similarly, the British Museum and artifacts within are lovely, but stitching its story as it has been interwoven with culture, history, and ethics is what you cannot take pictures of nor really interact with on your own. That piece was provided by our guide. I should add that Sheldon was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, humorous, and a captivating speaker. His tour will stay with us for a long time—thank you!

      An amazing visit
Our tour with Becky was amazing. I have been to the National Gallery many times before, but Becky´s vast knowledge and enthusiasm made this visit very special. The 2 ½ hours were filled with great stories about paintings, history and fun facts. We learned a lot and saw paintings in a completely new light. We will definitely book another tour with Becky in the future, thank you for a wonderful afternoon. Karen and Helmut

      Great and knowledgeable guide!
Stephanie was a fantastic guide for our tour in British Museum. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. Although it is impossible to see even a fraction of the museum in a couple of hours, she did a great job of guiding us to a number of the most interesting exhibits, and helped contextualize them with some background and related commentary.

Our guide Ellie was great, everyone in my family had a great time. The tour was well designed, and the communication/delivery was excellent. Not only did we had fun learning about individual parts of the exhibition, Ellie was able to explain how one part of the tour links to the other parts that we had seen or were going to see. She was also thoughtful to ask upfront if there were particular parts of the museum anyone in our group didn’t want to miss and made sure we cover them. Learning about the stories behind the scenes made this a totally different experience than visiting the museum on our own, we are very glad that we decided to join in this tour.

Absolutely wonderful tour. Our guide, Andy, really did a great job showing us both the highlights he suggested as well as taking us to a few specific works we wanted to get to. He had a great sense of humor which helped communicate the history and relevance of what we saw. The tour was 2.5 hours which was perfect to see what we wanted, but you need weeks to see it all, of course. all in all, can’t recommend this tour (and guide) enough.

Since there is so much to see, we wanted a guided tour. Our guide did not disappoint. Steph was very well educated and verbally passionate about the Museum’s offerings. Our three hour tour was practically perfect and interesting. We will return and request another guided tour.

Matilda was the best tour guide we have ever had the pleasure of engaging. She showed us the museum’s highlights as well as some hidden gems and new stories. She is extremely knowledgeable, interesting, personable and very well spoken. We will recommend her and Babylon Tours to our friends and family and hope for a return visit ourselves.

My wife and I wanted to go to the British Museum but we wanted to see most of it but not be overwhelmed. This was the perfect tour for that. Luis our guide was excellent. Not only was he very knowledgeable, he was fun to be around. As he took us around we had great conversations. What a great afternoon. If your goals at the museum is similar to ours, I recommend this tour. If possible ask for Luis.

Our family of four (“kids” ages 16 and 19) had a fantastic tour of the British Museum with Sebastian. He was knowledgeable and engaging. Our time together was informative and fun. We especially enjoyed how he was able to get us thinking about museums and the issues they face in today’s world. It sparked great family conversation. There’s so much to see and without a guide it would have been overwhelming. If you want to make the most of your time there, definitely book a tour with Sebastian!

Excellent, informed tour. Jake was extremely knowledgeable, and equally entertaining. The museum is huge. Jake took us to the most important exhibits and kept it interesting the entire time. He's a guy who does his homework and delivers an excellent presentation. My wife and I enjoyed it so much, we joined his tour of the National Gallery later that same day. Fantastic.

Fabulous and informative tour for our multi-generational family of five. Our tour guide, Becky, was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable, warm and confidently maneuvered us through the museum (even taking care to work with our elderly parent). If you have a half day and want the back story to the highlights of the British Museum, this is the way to go. Highly recommend.
