Never Thought Back In 1966 That I Would Give Nancy Sinatra Five Stars For Anything....
But Then I Saw Her Perform In Vietnam ( Da Nang ) And She Was A Real Trooper In That Humid Heat...
( I Ask You, Would Lady Goo Goo Or Girls Too Loud Perform For Our Troops In Iraq Or Afghanistan ???? )

Anyway, All Of Nancy's Hit Output For REPRISE Is Here, Including Her Hits With Her Dad, As Well As Dean Martin, And Of Course, Lee Hazelwood, Who Composed Many Hits For Nancy.
All From the Original Masters.

* While Living In Hollywood ( 1963 ) I Remember Well Where REPRISE First Was ( Before The Move To Burbank )
The Fledging Label Just Launched By Frank Sinatra, Was Located At The Crossroads Of The World Office Complex.
( 6671 Sunset Blvd ) The Round Rotating " Ball " Usewd To Have The Word " Norge " On It...
By 1964, The " Ball " Read As " REPRISE RECORDS " As It Rotated Day And Night ( It Was Illuminated )
Frank Sinatra Later " Sold " His Label To WARNER BROTHERS In Exchange For A Film Production Deal.

Much Of Hollywood Has Changed So Much, I Dread To Think What Happened To The " Crossroads "

None-The-Less, This Issue Should Provide Some Memories For Those Who Were Around When Nancy And Her Dad Were On The Top Of The World ( Frank, For The Third Time )

And....Thank You Nancy For Your Tours Of That Horrible, Heat-Ridden, Bug-Infested Da Nang And All The Other In-Country Locations You Performed At, And Gave It Your All ( As Did Bob Hope And Sammy Davis Jr At An Khe )

Great CD...
.My Thanks To The Hollywood Phantom For The Information On The Crossroads Of The World And REPRISE Records.

Always loved Nancy's voice which is shown to excellent effect on this cd. All of my favourites are here + many more. She is sultry and atmospheric and quirky and funny and she interprets songs in a very individual way whether solo or in her great duets or in the 2 film related songs here ("You Only live Twice" and "Tony Rome" - the latter starred her dad as an American P.I.) This cd is the place to start if you are just discovering Nancy for the first time.

Apart from a couple of catchy hits and a very famous 'pedigree', Nancy is nothing special.

I found this to be a very entertaining CD and, unusually for me, I enjoyed every track except the last one which would fail half way through. It appeared that there was a flaw on the playing surface. I returned it and Amazon were fantastic in supplying a new one by return. Sadly, the replacement bore the same fault and I had to accept a refund as it seemed there must have been a batch problem. If you like Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood and can get a perfect pressing, this a great buy. I will leave a repeat purchase for a little time in the hope that I can eventually obtain a perfect copy.

I'm not really sure that Nancy Sinatra was ever a good singer, despite having a good voice. Sometimes, her voice lacks feeling. But on some of the tracks, most notably, 'Friday's Child', she is very good and really puts some wallop into that one. The most appealing element on many of the tracks are those written by and shared with Lee Hazlewood. An example would be, 'Some Velvet Morning' - it rhymes in your head, if not on paper.
