Alemany is an interesting school. My entire family was taught there. Grandma, Mom, Dad, aunt, uncle, brother. So I was very disappointed when the school itself was so incredibly lackluster. I've witnessed first-hand very strange things happen at school. Nothing is taken seriously, and the teachers hardly teach. I was hoping for more, as I was one of the stereotypical kids that hated school for no good reason in middle school. The best part about my experience at Alemany have easily been the discipleship and Kairos retreats. They were incredible opportunities for me to open up and be real with people I never saw myself liking maybe a month prior. I haven't enjoyed any school organized events as much as these two retreats. I'd like to see Alemany take itself a little more seriously. The students need to attack the days with a sunnier, more social disposition and the teachers need create a better learning environment.
This school is amazing, as it consists of many activities and open class system where students get a good 1 on 1.
I would like to see more finances be put to other programs than just football. Perhaps placing more emphasize on what the student body as a whole needs or could use. For example, utilizing more of the campus to make a library or have our tech center open longer so it can be more useful for students who have to wait to be picked up after school. I would like the price match the quality of food in the cafeteria. Along those lines, I would hope that Bishop Alemany makes their activities, food, and programs more financially accessible for our lower income students who feel excluded from certain dances, trips, and ability to get food as needed on a regard basis.
