Addiction Solitaire Game Rules

At the start of a new game, a 52-card deck will be dealt out into 4 rows of 13 cards. All cards will be faced up, and the Aces are removed to leave behind gaps on the tableau. Following the gaps, you can move cards only when they are the correct suit and one rank higher than the card besides it. For example you can only move a 9 of spades to the gap on the right of an 8 of spades.

For Addiction Solitaire, a total of 3 reshuffles is usually allowed. The cards that are already in the right place and sequence (for example 2, 3, 4 from the most right) will be left on the tableau while the rest of the cards are taken, shuffled, and dealt again. A gap will be present behind the last correctly placed card in each row to allow for further building upon.

To win a game of Addiction Soltaire, you are required to build up 4 suits of cards in the 4 rows. You can build any suit on any row, but you must fill it up left to right from 2 to King (the Aces are filled in once a suit is done). There is no draw pile in this version of Solitaire, and the game is over once you have used up your reshuffles and can no longer make any moves.

Addiction Solitaire Tips and Tricks to Win

  • The most important step before doing anything is to check out the tableau first and confirm the cards that you can move. This is to ensure you don't miss out on any obvious moves from the start and helps you plan your next moves.

  • Always put any Deuce you can move to the leftmost column when there is a gap.

  • Try to create a gap in the leftmost column of any rows. This is to allow movement of a Deuce to that spot, which is the building block for any suit.

  • Prioritize moving cards to the correct places (for example moving a 3 to the second column from the left). Cards that are in correct sequence and placement will not be reshuffled, hence, reducing the randomization on reshuffles.

  • Only reshuffle when there are no more moves to be made. Since it is much tougher to move cards in this variation of Solitaire, you should try to make the most out of each dealt tableau.

  • Use the Undo feature. This is a last resort for most players, but if you are determined to get a win, there is no shame in undoing a move you are unsure about.
