Confusion about Aang's age and the age of his children.
How old was Aang when Tenzin was born? I have some sort of confusion because of what I have read Tenzin is 50~ and Aang died at 66. We don't know how old Kya and Bumi are but we know they are older than Tenzin. Can someone clarify?
Edit: I'm stupid and should of used Katara's age instead of Aang's age of death....also the years in LOK
You can let me drown now..
According to the wiki Katara is 85 in TLOK and Tenzin 51. So Katara was 34 when Tenzin was born. Aang is two years younger than Katara, so he was 32.
Are you telling me that that Aang didn't get laid until he was 32?
Kya and Bumi are older than Tenzin.
He used water bending as a contraceptive
The amount of concentration they needed for that.
I mean, I don't think it'd be too hard
Aang: "Monkey feathers! That was great! Okay now leave your legs open Sweetie" <waterbend his 'specimen'>. "I'm still the last airbender for another day!"
Just because you have sex doesn't mean you get someone pregnant straight away. Think about all those couples that have been trying to have babies for years. That and they could have done it in the butt.
Upvoted purely because "That and they could have done it in the butt"
Tenzin is the youngest child by quite a bit.
He has two other kids who are older than Tenzin. His son Bumi is 63 and Kya, his daughter is 54. So Aang had Katara had Bumi when they were very young. Aang was 20 and Katara was 22. They got married two years before Bumi was born so do the math. Aang and Katara had Kya when they were 29 and 31.
Tenzin is officially 51. Aang died at 66 or thereabouts (well, 166, kinda... fuck, it's hard to talk about ages when it comes to cryogenics), but TLOK is set seventeen years after his death, meaning that when he was 66, Tenzin was 34, so Aang had him at 32. Kya and Bumi were probably a year or two earlier apiece. Does that make sense?
Oh crap I should if subtracted Katara's age with Tenzin's instead of Aang at the age of 66....
TL;DR I'm not a clever man.
well don't you feel like a big choad.
don't worry. you weren't the only one that was confused about that.
Damn aang and katara waited a long time to actually do stuff.
He was their third child. They could have had Kya and Bumi much earlier.
How much earlier could it have been? I think aang would try to keep churning out babies 'till he got an airbender.
He was probably super-busy organizing Republic City after the war.
I assume Katara had some sort of say in the matter...
Or maybe they love oral and/or anal. Or maybe they had vaginal sex a lot during the least fertile time in Katara's cycle. Or contraception (though knowing them, I kinda doubt that one). Or they may have had more, but there were pregnancy problems and they lost some kids before being born.
Amount of sex =/= number of babies. If that were true, I would have hundreds of little ones running around. Except I have none. Thank the gods for that...
That feel when you realise you're reading something about the sex life of characters in a children's tv show.
Literally.. 😭
That was.. Err. That first sentence was odd.
if it was unprotected then youre just unresponsible
Bumi is 63, Kya is 54, and Tenzin is 51.
Came here to say just this.
I found it weird that Aang died so young. I mean 66 is not a long time considering that Kyoshi lived to be 230ish. Maybe there were some after effects of being frozen for 100 years...
Or catching a lightning bolt with his spine.
...and then his chakras re-opened with a pointed rock to the same spot. Yeah, I doubt lightning is very good for you long term.
I wonder if they would elaborate on Aang's death. Maybe he died earlier because of some horrible thing that happened 17 years ago, which isn't revealed yet.
Would be a bummer if they just kinda arbitrarily killed him off at a younger age :(
Not really arbitrarily, being frozen and in the avatar state for a century had to have taken some toll. And he did catch some lightning with his spine, and may have very slightly messed up the redirection of some immensely more powerful lightning which caused further internal damage with long-term effect
I don't think he died a natural death, granted he did get seriously injured quite a few times when he was 12.
Well, he was in the Avatar State for 100 years, not just in ice, and that's what drained his energy and made him die so young compared to other avatars.
I'd venture to say he was killed or sacrificed himself in someway. Being the great series that is is I doubt the the creators/writers will disappointment in the Epic Conclusion of Avatar Aang.
It's been my ongoing theory that Aang died due to some sort of foul play that will be revealed at some point during Legend of Korra.
I think the show creators made up the "died early because he was frozen" explanation as a cover up so as not to spoil the real reason before it's revealed
I was confused, I subtracted Tenzin's 51 from Aang's 66 and got 15. DAMN AANG YOU PLAYER.
I know that was exactly what I did too thank god that was cleared up.
How old is bumi, how much difference there is between him and his 2 siblings
Aang died in his late 70s or 80s…
Oh, wiki, okay, so he was in his 20s when he had Tenzin.
Umm, you might wanna check your facts. ಠ_ಠ
Ah, I thought I'd edited that… Yeah, he wasn't 70/80. Apologies.
He would have still been in his 20s, though.
Wrong again. If Tenzin is 51... and Aang was 66 when is died 17 years ago... Then the anwser is.....?
Fine, Korra's 17. So take a single digit and change it. Big deal.
How do you came to that result?
Ah, actually Aang was 31 when Tenzin was born, my mistake.
Simple subtraction.
No, he wasn't.
