PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Beth Mooney

India must be pretty sick of watching Mooney who just continues to enjoy batting against them. Tonight they didn't have enough runs on the board either despite getting off to a flier, and despite the late blitz at the end. And the less said about the bowling and fielding, the better. So that's all from our coverage of this first T20I. Four more matches to go. Until the next one, it's goodbye from Sagar Chawla on behalf of Siva and Kumar Abhisekh Das!

Healy: Let me tell you - it wasn't that easy when we were on the field (captaincy). I thought they were below par. As per stats 185 is a par score here. We didn't finish great with the ball but we knew we were in the game. Probably will look to tidy up the death bowling and some other areas.

Mooney, Player of the Match: Love putting the Australian shirt on first and foremost. And fortunate enough to come up a few times against India as well. Played a couple of nice shots tonight and glad to get the team over the line. Really nice wicket. Had a tip before coming that we were going to play on some nice batting wickets. It's true to form out there. Fast outfield and a great crowd tonight.

Harmanpreet: I think yes (was the total enough?). It was a decent total - we were in the game till the 13th over. But after that we gave away too many boundaries and even the fielding was not upto the mark. Night games are always like that - sometimes it's difficult to judge the ball. Radha is one of our best fielders, and I think it happens. But we have to take those chances to win. Yes it did (dew played a role). Our bowlers were trying our best. But once they got their reprieves, they played freely. Have to take those chances to win.

McGrath: Nice to start off the series with a win. Haven't played together as a team since the Commonwealth Games. The crowd was special today. It starts at training - we work very hard, push each other. One of our mantras is to keep getting better. Indian batters batted really well especially at the back end, but we saw that we got value for shots here. Really nice wicket. We were happy with that total. Mooney was outstanding today. I'm good to go (with the ball - no niggle). Just spoilt for choice with bowlers. Team full of bowlers really.

21:58 Local Time, 16:28 GMT, 21:58 IST: Australia have cruised to their target of 173 to go 1-0 up in this five-match series. It was a combination of many things - Mooney's brilliant knock, the dew that made it difficult for the bowlers, India being a few runs short on that pitch and outfield, while their bowling and fielding also being very very sloppy. They put down a couple of chances which were costly, but even if they had been taken, it didn't look like they were getting the better of Mooney tonight who was just sublime. It was a late blitz from Deepti Sharma that got India to that total in the first place, but Australia had it covered the whole way through, needing just two big partnerships to get there in a canter.

18.1

Deepti Sharma to McGrath, 2 runs, clipped off the pads behind square, and McGrath races back for two to complete the win! Australia have done it with 9 wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare

Deepti Sharma [2.0-0-18-0] is back into the attack

17.6

Anjali Sarvani to McGrath, 1 run, length ball wide of off, McGrath late-cuts to short third

17.5

Anjali Sarvani to Mooney, 1 run, overpitched at the stumps, driven to long-off

17.4

Anjali Sarvani to McGrath, 1 run, very wide outside off again, McGrath reaches out and cuts through cover

17.3

Anjali Sarvani to McGrath, no run, short ball that's very wide outside off, McGrath steps across to pull and drags it off the toe-end to square leg

17.2

Anjali Sarvani to Mooney, leg byes, 1 run, drifting in on leg, Mooney misses the flick and it goes off the pad into the on-side

17.1

Anjali Sarvani to McGrath, 1 run, length ball that's quite wide outside off, McGrath mistimes the cut wide of cover

Anjali Sarvani [3.0-0-23-0] is back into the attack

16.6

Meghna Singh to Mooney, FOUR, fine display of maneuvering the field. Has been the case right through the innings. Meghna shifts her line to around off stump, and Mooney opens the face this time to guide it past short third. Australia just 7 away now as this over disappears for 19

16.5

Meghna Singh to Mooney, FOUR, not the line she can afford to bowl with that field! It's good length around middle and leg, and Mooney clips it away behind square to split the two fielders in the circle

16.4

Meghna Singh to McGrath, 1 run, short ball around shoulder level, McGrath pulls it through square leg

16.3

Meghna Singh to McGrath, FOUR, now she jumps out of the crease, gets a short ball outside off and slaps it over point. It bounces just inside the ropes

16.2

Meghna Singh to McGrath, SIX, big swing across the line and that's gone sailing over the fine leg boundary! Wow! It's full around off, McGrath plants her back foot outside off stump, clears her front leg and opens the stance, and goes bang!
