Family feel at a cozy park!
We had a GREAT day here! (Disclaimer: if you’re expecting Sea World, this park isn’t going to meet those expectations. It’s a fraction of the size & much older, so I’d recommend looking up the long, storied history!) What you will gain is a fun family time- especially at the dolphin, harbor seal, and sea lion shows. Also, the snack bar is actually reasonably priced (and so is the gift shop)… pretty crazy. Neat exhibits other places around the park, too! There are additional fees for the up-close viewings, but they’re cool, too. Great family feel.

    Proud of Gulfarium
We did the Stingray Bay Encounter at the Gulfarium. It was great fun and there were 6 kids under 8 in our group. Even though they weren’t great at snorkeling they had lots of fun on a water platform interacting with the stingrays. This is our second Gulfarium encounter and they have both been fun. I will not return in July, it’s too hot and crowded. It does smell different than the cooler months, but the kids don’t notice. They do educate thousands of visitors every year. Is it the ideal place for a dolphin…maybe not. But they have lots of interaction and provide education and great joy for the kids.

    Fun dolphin show
We enjoyed the dolphin show. Doors open 30 minutes before the show and highly recommend you wait for those doors to open to get a good spot. We went up 15 minutes before start and it was already crowded and standing room early and they cut off entrance right after us. Pretty much everything is outside, and while it's shaded, the air flow can be spotty. Bring fans or cooling towels. Also be prepared for the possibility of animals engaging in reproductive activities.

Chopper the dolphin, Ally the human
I had originally intended to participate in the penguin encounter but it was already booked so the lady at the desk asked if I would like to do the "Star" dolphin encounter. When she told me that I would get to be in front of the audience feeding and touching the dolphin, I immediately said yes!!! It was sooooo worth it and the price was reasonable too. I was able to rub Choppers belly, feed him fish, throw him a ball, and hold his tail. It was very cool!

Rainy Day Fun At Ft. Walton Beach
Nice experience on a rainy day. 95% of all the activities are covered by a roof so we were able to stay out of the rain. I assume this would also be nice on sunny days to help keep you cool. Tickets are around $30.00. They do offer military discounts for our servicemen and women. 🇺🇸 They have a concession stand. The Nachos and warm pretzels were great on a cool rainy day. They had several animals and marine life to look at. We were done in about 3 hours. I wound recommend this place. You Otter not miss out. 🦦 Happy travels.

    Rainy Day Animal Trip
Great little stop on a rainy day. For being mostly an outdoor aquarium I will say they keep everything pretty covered and you stay out of the weather for 98% of the walk through to see the exhibits. The sea Lion show was great and I like when ya walk in you can see the dolphin tank immediately.

Neat Experience but it needs some improvement
I visited this place in 2017 and was hoping to have a great time with my family as well. However, I felt disappointed with the overall experience. The dolphin show was the highlight of our visit; the Sea Lion show had only one Sea Lion, but it was still enjoyable. Unfortunately, the turtle tank was empty, and the shark tank had a couple of sharks, but they were not visible.

    Gulfarium Favorite
One of the best aquariums I have ever been to. All kinds of animals/sea life. Mostly outdoors. Good shows and talks by the staff. Staff was great. Spent so much time answering questions and were incredibly helpful and friendly. Able to get up close to so many of the displays.

Nice way to relax for a couple hours.
We went to Gulfarium on our recent visit to Destin since it was only $10/person for our age on Wednesdays. We enjoyed the live dolphin and sea lion shows especially; the penguin (hard to hear) and seal performances were okay. The exhibits were okay but didn't wow us or take much time to see them. The new performance areas for the dolphins and sea lions were newer and very nicely done. Entering the Gulfarium was really ugly going around the old dolphin performance area; a more attractive entrance would improve the facility. Parking was free and plentiful. We also liked sitting on Gulf side overlooking the beach. The visit was definitely worth it for $10 but would not have been at the normal $29ist fee.

Great stop on a cooler morning
Fun times!! We are in the area for spring break. On a cooler morning we booked the penguin adventure. It was great. When will you ever get to pet a penguin? Down side. It is a bit expensive and it’s smaller aquarium facility But it’s great for a couple hours. Everything is nice and clean.

We visited Gulfarium on our second day and the kids had a great time! It is very small, mostly outdoors, which we liked. We watched the Sea Lion and Dolphin shows, both were great and we all enjoyed them. The animals were all out and about, so the kids loved being able to see the exhibits. The park staff were all very good and friendly. They did offer animal encounters, but they were only for 3-10 minutes at most, depending on the animals (a little pricey for the the amount of time), so we opted not to do those. As I mentioned, it is small, so it doesn't take a lot of time to see it all. I would recommend it, much more close up to the animals than others.

Spent about 2.5-3 hours here and loved it. We were able to watch the sea lion and dolphin shows which provided great entertainment. The place wasnt very crowded so we were able to see everything and take our time reading without feeling like we were too slow for other visitors. They offer up close encounters with animals for an additional fee. There is a concession stand for food and drinks.

Today we did the VIP Encounter. It seems a bit steep at almost $400 a person but it was worth EVERY penny! All of the trainers and staff were so wonderful, answered all of our questions, and always kept the animals health and safety, as well as ours, their top priority. The only animals we didn’t get to see up close were the otters as they are so easily susceptible to Covid-19 and are “quite naughty with short tempers” according to the trainers. Swimming with the dolphins and participating in the dolphin show was very cool, but for me the absolute highlight was getting *kisses* from the sea lions and feeding the tortoises. Everyone was very attentive to our needs. They have every size available for wet suits so please don’t worry about not being able to be fitted in order to participate. Book early as they only have one spot available a day (for up to two people who are together.) Bring dry clothes to change into after the showers. They will provide you with a towel and t-shirt you keep as well. Kudos to the staff and trainers. We were VERY impressed!

We decided to go here last minute given our flight didn’t leave until 2:30pm. We arrived promptly at 9am and bought our tickets on site. We received a discount given one of the exhibits (sea lions) was closed. After looking around a bit, we found seating for the dolphin show. We absolutely LOVED IT! The dolphin show alone was worth the price of admission, but I highly recommend arriving to find your seat early because it was packed by 10am. The rest of the exhibits were okay (you can tell they’re old), but we enjoyed it.

Found that the Gulfarium to be an interesting and educational experience. This place is nowhere near the size of aquariums you would find in Atlanta or Gatlinburg but for its size and price its well worth it. We got there at opening time which was not crowded but it did become crowded later in the day. Gave us plenty of time to view the animals and exhibits before show times. Could only see the sea lion show, the dolphin show was cancelled for exhibit repairs but we were offered a 50% refund because of this.

We were blown away at the view of the dolphin show with the gulf right behind it. We even had a show of wild dolphins near the pier running concurrent to the planned show. Try to do the reptile end of the outside area early because it gets hot in the sun. The rest of the park is in the shade. We didn't eat, but I noticed that the snack prices were reasonable. The dolphin show and the sea lion show were both cute.
Covid notes: Masks are not required unless you'd like to do an animal encounter (which are significantly cheaper than any other aquarium I've ever been to).

We spent about 2-3 hours checking out the park and watching the dolphin and sea lion shows. The park was clean and the weather was great with the ocean breeze/wind. The shows were entertaining and educational. I was disappointed in the prices of the Encounters. At this time, it's $30 for about 3 minutes for the opportunity to feed and pet a dolphin. The money is spent on the animals but 3 minutes?? There's free parking and a lot of shady areas. Kids should love it because animal viewing is close up.

We had about 3 hours to fill between vacating our rental and heading for the airport. We had driven by the Gulfarium several times so we decided to finally give it a try. I’m so glad we did! We all enjoyed seeing the various exhibits and shows. Almost all of the attractions are outside, but the majority of the area is shaded so even on a hot day it was not uncomfortable. A few hours is plenty of time to see everything. Unfortunately all the dolphin shows were full by the time we arrived around 2pm, but we got to hear and see part of a show from below through the tank observation windows. The sea lion show was cute and the shark talk was informative. The critters all looked healthy and well cared for. It was a good way to end our visit to the Ft. Walton Beach area.

So, you pay 70 for a Dolphin encounter. You are told to quit your dolphin show 10 minutes after.it starts to catch your Dolphin encounter, only to find out that they will leave you sun soaking for 20 minutes. That was worst treatment. Extremely unsatisfied. Poor planning. Incompetent management. BTW, people showed up 1:45 were still able to do the encounter no problem. Worst part of the trip. If management does not change behavior, better avoid this poor place.

Eh...I’m trying to like this place but the sharks in a tiny moat, hoards of maskless people indoors, and various other things make it difficult. The dolphin show held my kids’ attention. We were sitting in the stands at first and my kids couldn’t see and it was hard to hear over several screaming/crying kids, so we moved down and stood along the railing and it was much better after that. I will say, the dolphins seemed happy and well cared for.

After the dolphin show we went to the sea lion show, but it was really hard to hear the presentation and the kids lost interest. We then found an empty sting ray exhibit and a very dark turtle tank (couldn’t see through the water to see the turtles). At this point, two of my kids started begging to leave.

I’d have been upset if we paid full price admission (Homeschool week discount). Pros: really good/close look at dolphins through tank windows, they help rescue sealift sometimes, nice back area with alligators and turtles and things.
