The Office will be getting a sequel series on Peacock, but fans shouldn't expect to see any familiar faces from Dunder Mifflin Paper Company's Scranton branch. The spinoff will be switching to a new location and vocation entirely, introducing an all-new cast of characters for the faux documentary series to follow.

In the American adaptation of The Office, Rainn Wilson played fan favorite Dwight Schrute. Speaking about the spinoff with CinemaBlend, Wilson admitted that it makes him feel sad that the show is moving away from Scranton, though he understands the need to do so. After joking that there should be a plethora of spinoffs in the vein of Law & Order, the actor suggested he'd be up for special appearances as Dwight if Greg Daniels had an idea on how to bring in the character.

The actor does not plan to reprise his role as Dunder Mifflin Paper Company manager Michael Scott in the new series.

"Yeah, I don't see how Dwight goes from Scranton to wherever they're shooting it in the Midwest," Wilson said. "But, you know, if Greg [Daniels] wants me to do something, I'm happy to do something. But, I am sad that they're leaving Scranton. I understand that, why they're leaving Scranton, but I kind of feel like there should be like seven different office spinoffs kind of like Law & Order. Like there's Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and there should be all of these workplace documentaries going on, but they should all be in the Scranton Wilkes Bar, Lackawanna County, greater Metropolitan area."

A Cameo From Dwight Might Happen

Wilson continued, "I think we were given a heads up that it's the all new cast, all new thing they're doing. And you know, with Greg Daniels at the helm, he's always gonna be looking out for the best interest. So if he had an idea [for a cameo], I mean, I don't think many of us could go back to his regulars at this point. But, to pop in, make sure the office is running right. That might happen. I don't know."
