Otterbein University Reviews
Rating 3.8 out of 5 733 reviews
Overall, I have been disappointed with my experience at Otterbein. I have found the quality of teaching to be below my expected standards. I had two courses this past school year in which the professors provided little to no help outside of class and were ineffective in teaching during our class time. Additionally, I have found it very hard to get involved on campus and it seems like there is not much variety in campus organizations. I was also very disappointed in the quality and atmosphere of the dorms. There were several times during the winter that the heat broke in the dorms and it seemed like Res Life did not put much effort into addressing the situation quickly. In addition to this, I was disappointed that there was no social atmosphere within the dorms. Almost every time I passed through the main lounge, there was no one in it and the dorm hall was like a ghost town. Student life seemed almost nonexistent to me, and my experience was that everyone went home on the weekends.
I enjoyed the view on campus grounds and all the natural scenery. The buildings are pretty old and fascinating and have a history. The classes were entertaining and meaningful. I met some really kind professors while I studied there. I made a lot of friends that shared the same major as me and some that didn’t. I loved going to the library for a cup of coffee and study resources such as the math lab, writing lab, study rooms etc. I also went there to do some work and socialize a bit.
Otterbein University is very beautiful. When it is warmer, there are students lounging everywhere. I loved how beutiful it is and how walkable it is. The town is close enough to walk and there is a biking/walking path through Alum Creek park close by too. I love the performing arts at the school and the library is a great place to spend time. I am hoping the food choices change, because they are quite bland and not the best. I also hope that the housing service workers become a little more reliable.
