“Games” is in quotes because what we’re really talking about are ROMs.
Download Fightcade 2
First you’ll need Fightcade -> Pick your poison, download and create an account.
Consider throwing a month or two at their Patreon for the amazing work the whole team has done and continues to do.
Finding Games to play
There is no need to hunt around on sites or worry about versions, there a set of files called "JSON" files that contain all the information about the games needed to play.
So to get started, you’ll need to download facde2.json archive from this site -> https://bvoo.xyz/hftf/
I had some display issues so here is a direct link to the .zip file:
You’ll then want to unzip these and paste them in your Fightcade directory here:
Currently you’ll need to visit this site every so often to update the JSON files (just copy and over the existing JSON files you have). They may make this self-updating in the future.
With these in place simply head to that lobby and it will be downloaded automagically.
Adding new games or hacks
If the game you want to play or the cool hack you found isn’t there, here’s how you have something added to Fightcade:
1) Test your game/hack a bunch. No one else is going to, so you need to make sure it works.
2) Replace the following values in this JSON string to accurately represent your file:

3) Create a save state for the game. This should be with 2 players active on the character select screen most likely. If there are other options (such as speed of game or 'freeplay' mode) that are usually modified, do that as well.
4) Goto Fightcade's discord (invite link) and post the JSON string, a short explanation of the update in #fbneo-emulator
5) Goto Fightcade's discord (invite link) and post the save state in #fbneo-savestates
6) Message the user tobemorecrazy#4941 and explain the situation. His kind soul will get it added to the JSON file.
7) Wait. EVERYONE is busy. It takes time to run proper software cycles, so be cool.

With how hush hush the community is on fightcade. This is needed
The "hush hush" is needed since its skating the limits of what IP owners will allow. With more exposure and companies realizing they can possibly make money or perceptively losing it due distributing and promoting unofficial efforts, more likely they will clamp down with lawsuits like Nintendo and Paramount with Star Trek.
Most companies are aware of fightcade already. They'll be fine until official versions are offered like with garou and last blade 2 and +r. People typically play the steam versions of those instead
They are fine with it until they aren't. Unrestricted public sharing links to ROMs (or JSON files, not sure if this is a violation of ROM sharing here, I'm not for or against it, I'm just question it) makes it more likely they will take some kind of action.
Truth be told, the scenes for these old games are fairly dead and there really isn't much monetization available for them. It's very difficult even to give this stuff away for free.
People always try to exaggerate how active the games are. 3s has some level of activity, KOF has activity mostly in Asia, everything else is fairly dead for both. And when I say active, I mean maybe a hundred or two at the very most people in the rooms, the vast majority don't even play. Maybe two to three dozen max actual games going on, usually a dozen or less.
It's so small that it's really not on the radar.

I got null DC for MvC2 and it has lots of other retro fighting games, is this better?
Older games than that. Arcade games like sfa3 and sf3.
You should for sure sure check it out
No idea why, but this isn't working for me. I joined the sfa3aism lobby and a command window opened up and started printing some text saying it was downloading, however once it "finished" and the window close no new file had actually been downloaded, and I had to open up the JSON and manually download from the URL. Subsequent attempts (before the manual download) by exiting and reentering the lobby made the window pop up for about a millisecond without printing any text.
Weird. I'll talk to the json guys
