Disney+ is a great place to watch nearly every Disney movie under the sun, but you can’t forget the TV. Disney+ has so much great television programming, both content that previously aired on Disney Channel and/or ABC and shows that are original to the service. From Marvel series like Wandavision and Loki to Star Wars shows such as The Mandalorian and Andor, some of the hottest franchise fare is located here as well. From new releases like Percy Jackson and the Olympians to nostalgic favorites like Lizzie McGuire to hidden gems like Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire, we’ve waded through the countless list of good shows on Disney+ to find the truly great ones.

'Echo' (2024)

Marvel Studios' first TV-MA-rated miniseries, Echo is also the first MCU show released under the Marvel Spotlight banner. Staring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, Echo picks up five months after the events of 2021’s Hawkeye and follows Maya as she returns to her hometown in Oklahoma. The series also stars Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, and Devery Jacobs, with Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. All five episodes of Echo were released together on January 9, 2024, on both Hulu and Disney+. The show was number one on both services when it premiered, and it’s been fairly well-received by its audience. It’s also had a favorable critical reception, with praise for Alaqua Cox’s performance in the lead role. While MCU releases have been something of a mixed bag in recent years, Echo captures some of the old grit and tension that made previous Marvel shows like Daredevil and The Punisher so successful. It’s not without flaws, but the series is a breath of fresh air for MCU fans, proving that this massive cinematic universe can still work with a grounded story.

'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' (2023 - Present)

'Secrets of the Whales' (2021)

After three years of filming whales around the world, directors Brian Armstrong (Great Migrations) and Andy Mitchell (Untamed Americas) bring their mini-series to life in National Geographic's Secrets of the Whales. Filmed across 24 locations, different species of whales are followed by a camera crew and studied for their behavior, life, and the ways they interact with one another. Each episode within the single-season series follows a different type of whale, including Orcas, Humpbacks, Belugas, Narwhals, and Sperm Whales.

Critics complimented the show for its incredible visuals, as well as its ability to capture the intricate intimacies of each species of whale. The music by Raphaelle Thibaut and narration by Sigourney Weaver (Alien) is also noted for creating an emotional journey for the show's audience. Executive produced by James Cameron (Avatar), Secrets of the Whales was nominated for three Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. - Emily Cappello

'The Biggest Little Farm: The Return' (2022)

It's an interesting thing when most of a show's cast list is comprised of animals. That is the case for National Geographic's The Biggest Little Farm: The Return, which premiered on Disney+ in 2022. The 30-minute short is based on the 2018 family documentary, The Biggest Little Farm, which followed documentarian Jon Chester and his wife, Molly, as they bought and transformed a two-hundred-acre piece of land outside of Los Angeles, California. While Jon and Molly have now turned that piece of land into a sustainable farm, The Return serves as a mini check-up on the family and how they've fared thus far.

Aimed at capturing the natural beauty of the world, The Biggest Little Farm: The Return does a fantastic job of showing how vital the ecosystem and the animals living in it are to our world. Many times overlooked, small farms serve as the backbone of our country, and not many people stop to think about what it takes to make them work. Premiering on Earth Day of 2022, The Return serves to remind us of the importance of remembering the beauty of the world around us. - Emily Cappello

'Running Wild with Bear Grylls' (2014 - Present)

Keagan Michael Key. Ben Stiller. Brie Larson. Kate Winslet. Rainn Wilson. What do all these actors have in common? They've run wild with Bear Grylls on his show, aptly named Running Wild With Bear Grylls. Premiering on National Geographic in 2014, the show has run for eight seasons and has had an incredibly long list of celebrity participants, one of which Grylls takes with him on insane adventures each episode.

Created by Delbert Shoopman, Running Wild has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and won a Director's Guild Award for "Outstanding Achievement in a Reality Program" in 2023. The show travels to incredible locations, each one included in the title of its episode. With a list like "Benedict Cumberbatch in The Isle of Sky," "Natalie Portman in Southern Utah," "Danny Trejo in the Moab Desert," and "Ashton Kutcher in the Coastal Jungles of Costa Rica," it'll be a challenge just to pick which episode to watch. - Emily Cappello

'Baymax' (2022)

Who would have ever thought that an inflatable health companion with a monotone voice would become such a beloved Disney character? That is exactly what Big Hero 6's Baymax did, leading to the Disney+ show Baymax!, which premiered in 2022. The show picks up where Big Hero 6 left off, with Baymax entering the real world full-time and attempting to fit in as he does. Created by Big Hero 6 director Don Hall, the show ran for a single season consisting of six episodes.

With Baymax helping the members of the fictional city SanFranSokyo through issues like self-confidence, work, and middle school, each episode brings laugh-out-loud moments along with some seriously cute ones. The show stars Scott Adsit (30 Rock) as Baymax, along with Ryan Potter (Big Hero 6), Dichen Lachman (Severance), and Sarah-Nicole Robles (Encanto). In a particularly hilarious scene, Baymax attempts to work at a café, finding particular trouble getting those pesky plastic lids on those flimsy paper cups. - Emily Cappello

'Animals Up Close with Bertie Gregory' (2022 - 2023)

Filmmaker Bertie Gregory goes above and beyond in order to capture wildlife in its natural habitat. Disney+'s Animals Up Close captures Gregory's travels from Antarctica to South America to Africa. The show does a stunning job at not just capturing the wildlife it studies but also of the nature that surrounds it. Gregory does whatever it takes in less-than-ideal situations (including subzero temperatures) to show his audience the lives of wildlife around the world. Some of the animals focused on are African Wild Dogs, elephants, and Devil Rays.

Premiering in 2022, the show ran for a single season and was directed and produced by Will West. West is no stranger to working with Gregory, as the two collaborated on National Geographic's Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory around the same time.

'Limitless' (2022)

Rotten Tomatoes: 88% | IMDb: 8.0/10

Premiering in 2020, Disney+'s Limitless boasts the tagline "Live Better Longer." And while this sounds like the slogan for prescription medication, it is actually the underlying premise of Chris Hemsworth's docuseries about what we can do in order to extend — and better — our lives. Covering topics like memory, strength, acceptance, and stress, Hemsworth dives head-first into each activity with curiosity and eagerness to learn something new. The show ran for a single season and consists of six episodes.

Produced by National Geographic and created by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For a Dream) and Ari Handel (Black Swan), the show has a raw, real feel to it that isn't tampered by Hemsworth's star power. Known for starring as Thor in The Avengers series and films like Thor: Ragnarok, Hemsworth has always had an inclination for the physical. Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) and Luke Hemsworth (Westworld), also actors, make brief appearances in the show alongside Tristan Hemsworth. - Emily Cappello

'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' (2008 - 2020)

Set in the Star Wars canon around the same time as the franchise's prequels, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is an animated television show that premiered in 2008. Airing on Cartoon Network and later moving to Netflix, the program was positively reviewed and became Cartoon Network's highest-rated show. The storyline was mostly centered around the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, with plenty of fighting between clone troopers and droids.

Created by George Lucas and run by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian), the show features the voice acting talents of Tom Kane (Halloween H20), Dee Bradley Baker (American Dad!), Matt Lanter (Disaster Movie), James Arnold Taylor (TMNT), Ashley Eckstein (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody), Matthew Wood (Super 8), and Corey Burton (Atlantis: The Lost Empire). The show ran for seven successful seasons, eventually coming to an end in 2020. 'The Muppet Show' (1976 - 1981)

It's sketch comedy but with puppets. Oh, and it's iconic. While The Muppet Show premiered in 1976, it continues today as not just one of the most recognizable children's shows of all time but one of the most recognizable shows of all time. A sketch comedy show aimed at children, Jim Henson made magic when he created the world of Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Scooter, Rowlf, Animal, Floyd Pepper...dare I go on?

Opening with the iconic "The Muppet Show Theme," each episode takes place in The Muppet Theater, a setting inspired by vaudeville shows. Want insanely famous guest stars? No problem. The Muppet Show crosses paths with the likes of Steve Martin (The Jerk), Julie Andrews (The Sound of Music), and the late Christopher Reeve (Superman). Starting as two pilot episodes that premiered in 1974 and 1975, the show eventually gathered enough interest to generate a full series, which ran from 1976 to 1981. Premiering in 2021, Get Back shows The Beatles as they rehearse 14 of their songs in preparation for their first show in years. Deemed "thrillingly immersive" by critics, the docuseries, directed by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), covers the making of the band's 1971 album "Let It Be." (Can you hear that song now, too?) With a runtime of eight hours, the three episodes encompass approximately 21 days of studio recording. The first collection of stories is compiled in volume one, containing nine separate tales. These first nine stories were all animated by Japanese animation studios, while the second volume was created by animators around the world, with locations including South Korea, the UK, Chile, Ireland, Spain, and the United States.

With critics calling the show "gorgeously animated" as well as "wildly creative," Visions is a treat for fans who are craving a new way to experience the beloved franchise by George Lucas. Episode titles include "Journey to the Dark Head," "I Am Your Mother," "In The Stars," "The Pit," and "Sith." When 13-year-old Lunella (Diamond White) accidentally uses a time vortex to bring a 10-ton T-Rex into New York City, she and the T-Rex band together to save the Lower East Side. This is the premise of Disney+'s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, an animated children's series that premiered in 2023 and also stars Fred Tatasciore (Team America: World Police), Libe Barer (Sneaky Pete), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix), Sasheer Zamata (Spree), and Alfre Woodard (12 Years a Slave).

The show was created by Jeffrey M. Howard (Phineas and Ferb), Kate Kondell (Legally Blonde 2), and Steve Loter (Kim Possible) and has had two seasons so far. The show is praised for its punchy animation style, its voice actors, and its ability to reflect a child's imagination. 'Lizzie McGuire' (2001 - 2004)

Hilary Duff’s breakout role as the titular character of Lizzie McGuire dominated the Disney channel airwaves in the early aughts. Created by Terri Minsky, Lizzie McGuire is an amusing sitcom centered on an adorkable tween girl and her best friends as they discover themselves and their places in the world. Featuring an impressive comedic supporting cast, including Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine as Lizzie’s parents, the series only lasted two seasons with 65 episodes total yet remains in millennials' minds for its use of animation to explore the main character’s inner soliloquies.

While Lizzie McGuire only resulted in a handful of episodes, the characters are so beloved that they inspired a sequel movie and a couple of attempted reboots, including one nearly 20 years after the end of the show. Showcased in good-natured episodes tackling silly shenanigans and themes such as popularity, crushes, and family dynamics, Duff’s performance as the often shy adolescent skyrocketed the actress to stardom, launching her iconic musical career and continued success in shows like Younger and How I Met Your Father. - Yael Tygiel

Running for four entertaining seasons in the early aughts, Kim Possible sees the duo most often facing a mad scientist with evil plans focusing on world domination while delightfully tackling realistic high school stories and seemingly impossible missions at the same time.

The humor and technology may be slightly limited by the era of the animated series, but Kim Possible continues to stay current with teen issues while building intricate layers to the engrossing characters. Kim’s foes often have over-the-top, Powerpuff Girl-level campiness, which only adds to the show’s charm, especially after drawing audiences into the series with a catchy theme song and focusing on Kim’s friendships as well as the exciting, life-threatening situations she finds herself in. - Yael Tygiel

In addition to its heart and great visuals, the show has a phenomenal cast, including Everything, Everywhere, All at Once alums Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu.

'Moon Knight' (2022)

Isaac has to pull double (and eventually triple duty) as the mercenary Marc Spector, who occasionally shifts into his alternate personality, a meek museum employee known as Steven Grant, as a result of his near-lifelong experience with Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID. His mental illness doesn't keep him from becoming the avatar of the Egyptian god Khonshu (Abraham), who taps Spector to fight his vengeful battles against those who would do wrongs and attempt to skirt the consequences. Along the way, Marc is forced to do battles within as well as without, exploring some of his most painful and repressed memories in order to become the most accepted version of himself. With the finale of Marvel's latest Disney+ series airing this week, it's safe to say that Moon Knight has rooted itself firmly in the pantheon of successful MCU ventures on the small screen. - Carly Lane

'Once Upon a Time' (2011 - 2018)

It's a concept that was first introduced back in 2011 to irresistible effect — what if fairy-tale characters were brought into our world, only they had no memory of their past or who they actually were? And what if the whole thing was the result of an evil queen's curse? Not only did Once Upon a Time spend episodes with such figures as Snow White, Prince Charming, Belle, Little Red Riding Hood and more in the present, but we also got to see flashbacks to their lives before, building out an even richer backstory for them in the process. When it comes to the show's later success, your mileage may differ in regards to those ending seasons, but you could do worse to celebrate the 10th anniversary than by watching all of Emma (Morrison) and Hook (O'Donoghue)'s steamiest scenes. - Carly Lane
