Roanoke Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Randolph

THE GAME FACTS

The Short Story: The 15th-ranked Maroons cruised to a 24-1 win in a non-conference contest at Randolph on Wednesday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Roanoke sprinted out to a 13-0 advantage by the end of the first quarter and led 17-0 at halftime. Maddie McDonald, Maddie Stopkoski, Kate Loughran, Zoe Blair and Elyse Cosgrave each scored two goals in the first half.
  • RC added three more goals in the third quarter and bagged the first four markers of the fourth.
  • Mackenzie Woodson got the WildCats on the board with just 1:02 to play.
  • The game between the two ODAC foes will be counted as a non-conference contest in the standings.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Loughran and Tiernan Connor led a balanced attack with four points apiece. Loughran recorded two goals and two assists, while Connor had a goal and three helpers.
  • Six other Maroons registered three points: Stopkoski tallied two goals and one assist, while the Maroons got one goal and two assists apiece from Tracey Benzing, Sarah Brisson, Sophia Chickering, Soria Ebert and Sydney Harrison.
  • Blair, Cosgrave and McDonald all finished with two goals. Nicole Harrison, Jordan Wheeler and Addison Widmer each contributed one goal and one assist.
  • Twenty different Maroons posted at least one point in the game, while 20 of Roanoke's 24 goals were assisted.
  • Chickering also won 14 draw controls. The Maroons held commanding advantages in shots (40-3) and on the draw circle (28-1).
