Bruno: Coutinho for me is leading in the Golden Ball race. Terrific player.

Lucas: Phillipe Coutinho is the main man in the Brazil team, so far the most likely to be the MVP of the tournament. Kudos Coutinho, kudos Brazil.

    Serbia 0-2 Brazil

Brazil have qualified from the Round 1 Group Stage of the World Cup for the 13th consecutive tournament, a run stretching back to 1970.

Serbia have been eliminated at the group stage of the World Cup in all three of their tournaments as an independent nation (2006, 2010 and 2018).

Rich: Neymar is a good player, but you simply cant put him in the same league as Ronaldinho or Ronaldo in their prime.

Graham: No doubt the football media will be gushing about this average Brazil team again. Really not impressed by them tonight, struggled at times against a poor and wasteful Serbia. A better side would have got a result against them tonight.

Steve: Sport is a funny thing. 4 years ago the Germans put 7 past Brazil in the semi final. Just 4 years later and they've lost 2-0 to South Korea to finish bottom of their table in the group stage

  13. 'Individual ability with a creative idea of play'

    Serbia 0-2 Brazil

    Tim Vickery

BBC Sport South American football expert

    Brazil

We've seen Brazil really making the ball fizz and moving together as a block with pace and trickery at times, but they have also had passages of play where they have oscillated, and we had one tonight. If Serbia got a goal in that period, the game could have unfolded in a different way. You never know how this side would adapt to pressure and we haven't seen them chase a game yet.

Neymar sitting deep created a channel for Jesus to attack, and that stretches the defence. It's about individual ability with a creative idea of play.

  14. Top five modern-day Brazilians?

Nice call. Let's put them in order.

    I'm going:

    1. Ronaldo
    2. Ronaldinho
    3. Rivaldo
    4. Neymar
    5. Romario

    Nice problem to have mind!

Aleks: On one hand, Neymar is a fine player. On the other hand, I don't think he's anywhere near Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo or Ronaldinho. On the third hand, it's probably a good thing too, lest they become too dependent on him.

  16. Post update

We've seen that stat a lot in the Premier League with Alexis Sanchez - the more creative players lose the ball often as they try things. There's a reason why more defensive, steady players don't lose the ball.

  17. Post update

    Serbia 0-2 Brazil

    John Bennett

    BBC World Service in Russia

Brazil’s attacking power will always attract the attention. But I think they are so much more solid at the back than four years ago. Really organised too. That could be what makes the difference.
