HATTIESBURG, MS - The Mississippi Valley State University outdoor track and field team place three top ten finishes in day one of a thrilling two-day meet at the Southern Mississippi Open showcasing their talent among tough competition.
On the first day of the event the ladies' division saw remarkable performances.
Aaliyah Whyte kicked off the day with an outstanding display in the hammer throw, achieving a new personal record of 44.46 meters, securing a commendable 4th place.
Aniyah Thomas also showcased her talent, with a 36.40 meter throw, earning her a respectable 7th place.
On the men's side,
Jadarius Townes demonstrated his skills in the Javelin event, achieving a personal best throw of 35.80 meters, clinching the 6th position.
As the competition progresses, MVSU track team remains determined and focused. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to compete on Saturday, April 27, 2024 starting at 12 p.m.

This will be the final meet before MVSU will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships, set for May 2-4.
