Yash Thakur in the attack now and yields 2 from the first 2 deliveries. The next ball is pulled by Jurel for another boundary. gets the gap again but this time gets 2. Another single next and Samson can see this over off. 10 from this one

Bishnoi introduced and Sanju tries to pull and loses his bat but still completes the single. Jurel with a single next and Sanju with a four over deep midwicket!! Picks up the next ball and that's now effortlessly gone over long on for another 4!! Ends the over with a pull over deep midwicket for a six!! 16-run over.

Krunal Pandya will bowl out with this over and after a couple of singles, Sanju with a reverse sweep to get 4!! 2 more to end a very good spell. 9 from this over

Mohsin Khan in to bowl the next one and Jurel smashes him for a four and a six to start this over off. And he has hit him for another four to bring up the 50-run partnership!! Ufff!! Might have been a catch but Thalur has dropped it. And another edge but this one was not easy and it races behind for 4 more. 20 from this one

Change of ends for Krunal now and gives away 3 from the first three balls as his miserly spell continues. And the last three balls yoeld just 2 more. 5 from this one

Thakur brought back and yields two from the first couple of deliveries as the batters can't get a clean hit. Jurel with a boundary next to make up for it before taking a single next. 100 up for RR. Another full toss and samson smashes it straight back at the bowler to get a boundary!! Two wides now and Sanju ends the over with a boundary!! 17 from this one

Mishra in for his second and Jurel with a huge six to start this over off after Samson takes a single. Very smart by the Raj skipper as he swivels down and gets a four to fine leg. 12 from this one

Lucknow will persist with spin as they bring in Krunal Pndya for his second over. Just 2 off the fitst 5 balls and it ends with a single. The required run rate is slowly creeping up as LSG pump on the brakes. 3 from this over

Amit Mishra in the attack now. This is his first game of the season and he has been brought in as an Impact Sub by Lucknow. Two singles to start and then Parag with a six off the third!! Goes for another one, gets it all wrong and has holed out in the deep.

Matt Henry continues and Jaiswal with another drive but can't clear the inner circle as it's a dot to start. Misses the next ball and that's another dot. Jaiswal finally off the mark with a single. And Buttler with a six next as he ramps the next one. Vintage from the opener. 8 from the over 

Mohsin Khan to bowl the second over and Jaiswal swings but hits it into the ground to start. Lovely delivery next but Jaiswal gets an edge and a four!! Buttler with 2 runs now as he starts a lottle slow due to his finger injury. 7 from the over 

We are in for the chase now. Matt Henry to open the attack with Jaiswal and Buttler starting the RR innings. Great double deliveries to start as they yield just 2. And Jaiswal with a six off the next ball, following it with a boundary!! The first assault by the batters in this innings. 13 from this one

Last over now and RR get a penalty for slow over rate. Now only 4 players are allowed outside the circle. Sandeep to bowla nd Krunal pulls for a boundary off the first ball. Good ball and Pandya gets 2 next. Another good length ball and a hesitation in the middle and the field yields two more. a single next and Badoni has 2 balls left to help LSG reach 200. Boult will bowl the penultimate over amd starts with back to back dots before Pandya takes a single off the third. Bowls a wide now and reviews but it stays a wide. 2 singles off the next 2 balls as LSG struggle for boundaries now. Ends with 2. Excellent over!!! Just 6 from it.

Avesh now to bowl the last over of his spell and Rahul takes 2 runs to start this one. And he swings at the second and has played it straight to Trent Boult!! An excellent innings ends.

Ashwin in the attack and Hooda goes after him but this time, he has holed out to Rovman Powell in the deep. Rajasthan can heave a sign of relief.

Chahal in to bowl his second over and Hooda with a huge reach, makes room for himself and slashes the first delivery for a four!! Finds a gap on the onside too but Boult with the save to keep it down to 2. Tahil on strike and he smashes a four too and brings up his half century. 13 from this over.

Ashwin back in the attack and pegs Lucknow back a little after the run fest in the last over. Gives away just 3 from the first 4 deliveries. Nut RR desperately need a wicket from their veteran spinner. Just 6 from the over 

Avesh Khan back in the attack and Rahul defends the first ball before picking up the next ball for a huge six!! Exquisitely timed. First 6 of the match and we have had to wait ttill the 7th over. Takes 2 more next as the scoreboard is kept ticking. Abesh errs jhis line against and gets punished with a six!! That's a ano ball for height as well. free hit time and the floodgates have opened. And a full-toss gets Rahul another four!! 21-run over 

Chahal introduced in the attack next and Rahul sweeps for a boundary off the third delivery. One of the more quieter overs here as it yields just 8 runs. 

Last over of the powerplay and Rahul goes so far away from the wickets that it just goes through and somehow misses the stumps!! Fine margins here. Finally takes a single and hooda wil have 3 more balls to play with. And play he does as Sandeep gets his length wrong and Hooda smashes the 4th delivery for a four!! Rahul drives the last ball for another boundary. Ending on the front foot. 10 from this one as well

Ravichandran Ashwin in the attack now.  Hooda with a single to start and Rahul edges a turning delivery but that has landed safe. At last, something for the bowlers in this match after so many days of huge hitting. Rahul, however, does not relent as he picks up the carrom ball for a boundary. Hooda swings the last ball, huge edge but nom slips and that skips to the third man boundary. 10 from this one.

Sanju Samson - We will bowl first. Looks like a decent wicket to bowl, but no guarantees. This season has been a bit different, some extra days in between games, that gives us time to rest and recover. We're playing the same team. IPL has been completely different, it's normal to get carried away looking at other teams, but the talk in our camp is to stay with the flow, we have been playing some good cricket and we need to continue doing so. I don't need to talk to him, he's been a top professional and has a big role in our plans (on Ravi Ashwin)

KL Rahul - The wicket is good, there's not much dew in Lucknow and the wicket will play well for the entire 40 overs. We'll need to play some good cricket. It's nice to get past 200, every team would like to do so, but the dimensions of this ground favours the bowlers a bit more and we've enjoyed it. No changes for us. Every player goes through a bit of time like that when you can't get runs ( asked about Padikkal's form). He looks good in the nets and he'll have to stay positive, you saw last night when Jonny came back after getting dropped and then getting a hundred.

Rajasthan Royals win toss, opt to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants

It's cooling down as we get into the evening here in Lucknow. 66m and 73m square boundaries while the straight boundary is massive at 80m. It's an incredible lush outfield, the wicket is made up of black clay and it means it's not a friend of the spinners There are large chink of cracks, so there could be some movement for the pacers. There is a nice grass covering and the brown patches are well rolled as well. Expect more runs, 200+ runs have been scored by the team batting first, the average 1st innings score has gone up to 170+ this season and we can expect runs on this surface

The IPL 2024 final will be held at Chennai’s Chepauk on May 26 with the Southern city also getting the second qualifier on May 24. Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the first qualifier on May 21 and the Eliminator on May 22.

This season, the 10 teams have been divided into two groups with teams in the same group to play the five teams in the other group twice in the group stage while playing the other four teams in their own group just once.

If Jos Buttler is out in the middle, don’t write off Rajasthan Royals during a chase.

Buttler notched up his second century of this edition of the IPL and grabbed the headlines from Sunil Narine, just as he had done against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Virat Kohli in the first week of April. Kohli’s unbeaten century was countered by Buttler’s. Tonight Narine’s ton went in vain as Buttler remained unconquered on 107.

Buttler had gone 15 balls without a boundary at one point but made up for it with a flurry of big shots towards the end. With nine needed in the last over, Buttler refused to take a single off two consecutive balls after hitting the first ball from Varun Chakravarthy for a six. Arguably the biggest household pick of the 2024 Indian Premier League has been Mayank Yadav. The 23-year-old pace sensation from West Delhi – also the land of Virat Kohli’s origins – has made only two appearances in the season but left plenty of jaws dropped following his 150 clicks ventures.

Given his early success, Mayank’s name has become a fan favorite for the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June.

Former World Cup winner with Australia, Tom Moody however, believes that India shouldn’t rush with the young talent just yet and groom him for the T20 World Cup two years down the line.

At the halfway mark, the momentum was very much in favour of Chennai Super Kings after a late burst. On a two-paced pitch, a target of 177 was not going to be easy, if Lucknow stuck to their template of saving wickets and freeing up at the end. On such pitches, playing big hits off the older ball always comes with a risk, especially if one factors in the huge outfield at the Ekana stadium.

So KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock came out with a different template. In home conditions, Lucknow’s batsmen have a knack of getting the job done by taking calculated risks. Fully aware of how this pitch would play, Lucknow’s openers straightaway got down to putting pressure on Chennai’s attack. With Deepak Chahar still struggling, Rahul wasted no time in going after him. A straight six off a good length delivery revealed his intentions. This was not going to be a night when Rahul was content to going at a strike rate in the 120s. So out came those drives and whips as De Kock went at his usual pace.
