iCarly season 2 continues the reunion of fan-favorite characters from the original show while also introducing new faces to the series. Just over a year after the revival's first season, iCarly is back for season 2 on Paramount+. A continuation of the story of the Nickelodeon hit, iCarly places the audiences nine years after the original series ended.

iCarly originally ran on Nickelodeon from 2007 to 2012. Dealing with more adult themes — albeit still with the same style of humor and laughing tracks that marked the original series — the iCarly revival joins series like Fuller House and Raven's Home as an example of a successful sequel-reboot redesigned for a more modern style of storytelling. Similar to season 1, iCarly season 2 will have 10 episodes.

As in season 1, the core characters from iCarly return for the revival in season 2 along with brand new ones. Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam on the original show, chose not to be a part of the project. Here's a breakdown of iCarly season 2's cast and characters:

Miranda Cosgrove as Carly Shay

Miranda Cosgrove plays Carly, the main character whose story audiences have been following since the original show in 2007. Nearly ten years after the original series ended, Carly has moved back to the Bushwell Plaza and relaunched iCarly now in a very different world. After iCarly's season 1 saw Carly face the new challenges that today's social media brings to content creators, as well as having to sort out two different relationships, the lead character will now have to deal with the consequences of her love choices and with how exposed her personal life has become on the internet. Cosgrove became famous at a young age after appearing in Richard Linklater's School of Rock, followed by the role of Megan Parker in Drake & Josh. Right after Drake & Josh’s ending, Cosgrove went to star on her own show, iCarly, which went on for six seasons. Miranda Cosgrove also has a music career, having released an album in 2011.

Jerry Trainor as Spencer Shay

Nathan Kress as Freddie Benson

Nathan Kress plays Freddie Benson, Carly's best friend and producer of the in-show iCarly show. As in the original series, Freddie is the one behind the camera. The character is also now in the tech business as the developer of a new app. Between divorces and an adopted stepdaughter, Freddie's iCarly story remains linked to Carly's. Outside of iCarly, Kress has been on shows such as Hawaii Five-0 and Star Wars Rebels.
