Toyota Offers An OEM TRD Lift Kit For The 3rd Gen (22+) Tundra From The Factory To Achieve A 3-Inch Lift – All Under Warranty!
The new Tundra is now available with a 3.0″ lift kit developed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) straight from the factory. Toyota announced this kit at SEMA in 2022 as being a dealer-only installed option. long story short, that didn’t go over well with customers, or dealers. There were some concerns mainly circling around it being a dealer-installed option with pricing install rates and just too many components causing an uncomfortable experience. Dealers also didn’t want to allocate additional manpower to just focus on lift kit installs either, when their focus should be on quick lube and warranty work.
Well, I’m glad to say that for the 2024 model year, that has all changed for those looking to purchase a new truck with a TRD Lift Kit. Toyota is now offering its kit straight from the factory assembly line.
This means that these trucks will be equipped with the TRD lift kit from day one, eliminating the need for a dealership or 3rd party off-road shop to install onto somebody’s truck. Those who are still looking to add the kit to their early model 3rd Gen Tundras can still do so after the fact as well.
Let’s get a little bit more detail on this kit though.

What Is The TRD Factory Lift Kit?
At the heart of this suspension kit are Bilstein monotube shocks and TRD red coil springs which are specifically tuned by the TRD division. The shocks feature digressive pistons to provide low-speed body control around town and high-speed stability for highway cruising. Forged upper control arms from Roush Performance are equipped upfront as well. These stronger, branded UCAs complement the additional suspension travel given with the lifted suspension and also help with a successful alignment.
You will see below that many other components come with this kit. Toyota seems to have gone above and beyond to make sure that there will be no weak points in the system since pretty much all of the suspension and driveline components will be upgraded once installed. They even went as far as upgrading the hilariously short Tundra rear brake lines.

That’s a lot of components, so is it worth it? The kit not only raises the truck allowing you to easily fit 35″ tires, but it also increases ground clearance by 2.6 inches resulting in improved approach and departure angles. The approach angle increases from 21.0 to 26.0 degrees and the departure angle from 24.0 to 25.0 degrees.
Where To Purchase
If you are looking to purchase this lift kit for your existing Tundra, the manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing for the kit is $3,995, not including installation labor per Toyota’s press release. I have seen this kit on various sites though for around $2400-$3000, so I would shop around if you are looking to retrofit your 3rd Gen.
If you are looking to purchase a brand new Tundra equipped with the TRD lift kit, then you may want to sit down for this sticker shock. The cheapest I saw on Toyota’s build and price configurator was $9580 (for SR5 models). The reason for this though is because it looks like they are only doing this setup on TRD off-road equipped trucks with almost every option possible. It includes 20″ black TRD wheels, Falken A/T tires, along with all the premium interior bits.
If you build a Platinum Tundra on Toyota’s configurator, the TRD kit will be $6175, again including the TRD off-road package for $2500.
Dealers may be able to order 4×4 Tundra with just the lift kit to save some money, however, all I can see on their build and price tool is that it only allows you to get this as a factory option if you opt for a TRD off-road package.
The Tundra TRD lift kit is available for model year 2022+ Tundra and iFORCE-Max 4×4 models. It also doesn’t matter if you own a Tundra with a 5.5 or 6.5-foot bed. Toyota says that this kit is not or trucks equipped with the optional Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) or air suspension.
Should You Buy An Aftermarket Kit Instead?
With the pricing addressed, why would one just not opt for a simpler less expensive suspension alternative?
Here’s what Toyota thinks.
“There are many compromises with aftermarket lift kits, some of which can impact the function of vehicle features or safety systems,” Mikhal el Arculli, TRD principal engineer says. “We have designed this kit to work seamlessly with the Tundra’s standard features, retain all Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) functionality, maintain similar stock driving dynamics by creating a kit with a high center of gravity and provide a look and feel customers want with a lift.”
Warranty
The Tundra TRD Lift Kit comes backed by the same warranty as all TRD accessories, which includes a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty on parts if installed before or during the sale. If purchased after the new vehicle purchase, the coverage is 12 months, regardless of mileage from the date the accessory was installed on the vehicle or the remainder of any applicable new vehicle warranty. The TRD lift kit is the only Toyota-approved lift kit designed to work with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) system as well.
Ease Of Payment & Mind
If you are looking to purchase a new Tundra and plan on adding a lift onto it to look cool, plus potentially fit larger tires, then having it wrapped into one payment is a bit simpler for many individuals. Purchasing a truck with the lift already installed and wrapping it all into one financed payment is worry-free for many people. There’s no sourcing a kit after the fact, finding a reputable off-road shop in your area for installation, installation fees, along with the potential of Toyota voiding your warranty for suspension components just isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
Final Thoughts
I think that this is something that Toyota should have offered on day one for the 3rd Gen Tundra. Many individuals who are running this kit or have purchased a 2024 Tundra with it pre-installed, have nothing but good to say about how their trucks ride.

we’ve done one for our customer. Not impressed at all and we were scratching our heads why they gave us all other stuff that weren’t necessary.
For the price, if you’re looking for offroad capability, I’d just go with King or Fox and call it a day. With the MSRP, add $1k more and you get Kings with adjustors, UCA, and rear springs. You can still get 3″ lift out of it if you want.
