      Nawt W Those damned Pakistani dogs are corrupting the youth and destroying India, so a budget version of Mossad is needed. I'm not going to pretend that the movie takes itself wholeheartedly seriously, but it's serious enough for me to say that it's just patriotic shlock. It's also a very long one. Not a single character stands out beyond its designated archetype. Ajay even has a token family that he has no time for because of his duty, which is supposed to make him relatable and make us worry for him. But it's impossible to worry for anyone; the entire two-hour-and-a-half thriller is just tensionless. You know that no one essential is going to get hurt or caught. At least we need to commend those locations the movie takes place in: Istanbul, Nepal, and Saudi Arabia; at least it's not just the slums of Kolkata. But God, those crowd extras are just beyond comical; they were given no direction, and most of their reactions make it seem like this is the third fight they are witnessing that afternoon. I'm so glad I decided to eavesdrop my teachers when they were talking about it in the staff room. I didn't watch films back then since I come from a conservative family, so the only way for me to watch a film was from a free medium. Back in the days we had only two options: Either wait for it to come on TV and tolerate watching all the ads, or hope it will come on Hotstar where we will watch it for free. Thankfully the latter happened and I was able to watch it. The story is about a group of secret agents codenamed Baby, because of its small size and that it was still a new team. The film begins with them on a failed mission, where one of their agents dies and one switches sides. They are all in a very tensed situation when a terrorist from Pakistan starts provoking the nation's security. This is what made me like this film so much; it never minces its words just for the sake of appeasement. I personally hate all religions and I was a Satanist back when I saw it, so I really liked what they did there. This is one thing which I really like about this film - it has the ability to separate religion from patriotism. I have seen many people who go about telling how they have to save their religion if they want to save their coutnry. Here the terrorist and the anti terror squad, both have people from the same religion. As a result it is easy for any layman to tell the difference. There is the part where Imran Taufiq is caught by Ajay and is told that in the religion column he writes Indian in bold and capital, and that if the people get to know he is an ISI agent, they will no longer support him because they choose their country over their religion. The Baby team later goes to Middle-East where they capture Maulana, the Pakistani terrorist who was being a pain in the neck. I really like how he looks after they shave him. His skin looks so clean just under the pores. The whole film, from then onwards, is a thriller. Eevry moment it feels like they are about to get caught, but finally when they bring him in they are finally at relief. Even then I was scared that they may face another problem, which they didn't. Baby has very good acting, choreography, cinematography, usage of real weapons and stays true to its concepts. It explains very well what the issue at hand is and how it could have been tackled if our government was more responsible. This is a film I can watch over and over again just because of how cool it looks. This is something I don't normally think about army movies, which is the reason why I feel this film is so special. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member However the viewers of movies like 'Argo' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' might get divided about the fast-paced 'Baby', there might just be not a least bot arguing about the fact that Neeraj Pandey's 'Baby' is a wonderfully stylized reminder of his slick craft and nifty self-pieces. Infact it's as precisely fashioned a film as his last film- and his wonderful 'Special 26', also starring Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher, two biggest strengths of this beautiful watch. There might be some problematical humour and tonality is regressive, but mostly it's a well-made action thriller which ditches it's 'well-mannered' aspect in totality. Homegrown pleasure!
