Oilers Press Conference & Coaching Change Reaction

What we learned from the Edmonton Oilers press conference announcing the new coaches.

In case you live under a rock (or never check social media) the Edmonton Oilers have a new head coach and assistant coach. Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson are out, Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey are in.

That's enough to digest by itself, but the press conference was on its own level of weird.

Ken Holland was answering a question on whether or not players were consulted on the decision to hire a new coach. Holland said "I talked to some of the veterans. I won't tell you what they said."

Immediately after Jeff Jackson said that "none of the players were consulted on this decision."

On the latest episode of the Striking Oil Podcast I give my reaction to the press conference plus more reaction to the hiring of Knoblauch and Coffey.

Something feels weird here, but we will see if this is the kind of weird that will jump start this team into a great run.
