1993

In 1992, Nine Inch Nails released the "Broken" EP. It was followed in 1993 by a short film, roughly 20 minutes in length, known as the "Broken Movie". The movie wove Broken's four music videos together via a violent "snuff film" and included its own video for the song "Gave Up" as its conclusion. Due to its extreme graphic content, the Broken Movie was never officially released. But in Christmas 2006, NIN secretly released it on BitTorrent along with the free 2 DVD set closure deluxe prototype.

This 20-minute short film captures the essence of Nine Inch Nails and the Industrial scene. It's violent, disgusting, and fantastic all at once. At times, it nearly feels like you're watching a snuff film. I would have been traumatized if I had seen this at midnight as a kid. And, while they aren't my favorite songs of the band, they were still incredibly good, and I'd say the music videos made it even better.

Before you start reading I must admit that I am not a big fan of Nine Inch Nails nor am I related to their label nor do I consider myself a lover of Industrial Rock but even so I have always thought that Trent Reznor is one of the most creative people in the music scene.
Broken is a short film that compiles the promotional videos that were shot for the songs of the EP of the same title and joins them with a recording as a snuff movie of very good quality in which a psychopath kidnaps and tortures a poor wretch with great detail.

Ugh, I can't believe I spent so many years living in fear of this film and most likely turfing my physical copy of it in the belief that it was an extremely cursed object.
Not only was this relatively easy to watch, but it was actually a nice little blast from the past.
