Gayle Hunnicutt (1943–2023), Dallas star

Gayle Hunnicutt was an actress best known in the U.S. for her role as Vanessa Beaumont on “Dallas.” 

Gayle Hunnicutt’s legacy 

Born in Texas, Hunnicutt spent a significant part of her career in England after marrying British actor David Hemmings (1941–2003). There, she starred in such films as “Fragment of Fear,” “The Legend of Hell House,” and “The Spiral Staircase.” She also appeared in the BBC miniseries “The Golden Bowl” and “Fall of Eagles,” and in “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.” 

Hunnicutt also spent some time in the U.S. working on movies and TV shows, most notably “Dallas.” From 1989 to 1991, she played Vanessa Beaumont, the mother of J.R. Ewing’s illegitimate son, James. Her other U.S. TV appearances included “The Love Boat” and “Taxi.”
