An unusual souvenir

A Celtic fan takes his bin for a walk

When your team wins a trophy, it's only natural to want something to show for it.

But a wheely bin? Er, that's a new one.

One Celtic fan was spotted taking a proud stroll down Argyle Street pushing a red bin as he went.

Just one of the sights you see in Glasgow on trophy day!

The dust settles

Crowds of Celtic fans gather at the Trongate

The dust is settling as daylight dawns in Glasgow - but the party is still going strong.

It's been a day in the sun Celtic fans won't forget in a hurry as they were coronated as Kings of Glasgow, and Scotland, once again

Even when you're as dominant as Celtic, you don't get this every day - just once a year or so.

'We are Glasgow Celtic and the only way is up'

That's rhe message from defiant women's star Chloe Craig ahead of Helicopter Sunday tomorrow.

The Hoops can claim a first-ever title with victory over Hibs on Sunday. Craig, Celtic’s longest-serving player, reckons that would prove a point for a side she believes have been underestimated.

It would be incredible because a lot of people have written us off. They said we don’t have the ability to go out and win leagues and cups – and that put a fire right into us.. It is in our hands now to go and lift that trophy and if we do it then I think it will be a statement that we are here. We are Glasgow Celtic and the only way we are going is up.”

Santa cameo goes global

Santa at Celtic Park

Santa's cameo at Celtic Park today is starting to spread beyond UK shores with French media picking up on the hilarious bit.

Poor old Nick was booed during the dreary defeat to Hearts back in December, but made amends today when he brought out the Premiership trophy - to a much warmer ovation.

Santa making an appearance in early summer with the sun splitting the trees was a bizarre sight and French news outlet France 24 have picked up on it.

A figure clad in the traditional Santa Claus costume then delivered the trophy -- six months after being booed while doing the half-time prize draw during a defeat by Hearts.

How Celtic can bury Rangers

Neil Lennon reckons that Celtic already have two of the three pillars in place to secure "domestic dominance" over Rangers - as he urged the club to spend big this summer.

And with the guarantee of a Champions League jackpot next season, Chris Sutton has urged the club to flex their spending muscles this summer to "bury" their rivals hopes of claiming the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic fans celebrate at the Trongate

The party is roaring in the east end of Glasgow as Celtic fans drink in their third title in a row.

At times this season it looked as if it might not be for Brendan Rodgers, particularly the middle third when Rangers gathered momentum under Philippe Clement and wore their advantage down to nothing.

But champions stand up when it counts and that's exactly what the Hoops did.

12 titles in the last 13 years tell the story of their dominance and with another successful Premiership season officially in the history books, fans have been unwinding with an almighty party at the Merchant City end of Glasgow.

They've lined the streets in the sunshine to mark the occasion as they win the title for the 54th time in their history.

The scenes of celebration have been wild, with smoke bombs, tricolours and green and white as far as the eye can see. SEE MORE

Philippe Clement's Celtic claim falls apart

The Rangers boss has used one key defence of his Ibrox record - but results on the final day has seen that disappear.

Don't break my Hart

Joe Hart

Chris Sutton has once again urged Joe Hart to make a retirement U-turn and stay with Celtic for another season.

The veteran keeper made his last Parkhead appearance as Brendan Rodgers' side marked trophy day with a 3-2 win over St Mirren. Fans paid tribute to hart with a second half banner and he was given a standing ovation as he was subbed off late on for Scott Bain. Hart also lifted the trophy alongside skipper Callum McGregor, and will be targeting another winners medal after next weekend's Scottish Cup Final clash against Rangers.

However, Sutton reckons the impact Hart has had on Celtic means he should seriously consider putting on the clubs for one more campaign. READ MORE

Bain silence the Celtic Park party

Things were ramping up at Celtic Park after Callum McGregor lifted the trophy.

However, Scott Bain was keen to tone them back down again as he left the stadium.

While fans were cheering the champions out of Parkhead - the goalkeeper asked for silence as he left the ground with his sleeping daughter.

The punters were happy to oblidge an audille shushing was heard before the party kickstarted again in an endearing moment.

Shankland Celtic 'disrespect' slammed

Lawrence Shankland celebrates

John Robertson has accused Pat Bonner of being 'disrespectful' to Lawrence Shankland by claiming he wouldn't fit into the 'Celtic way' of playing.

The Hearts skipper bagged his 31st goal of the season in a thrilling final day 3-3 draw with Rangers. The Jambos, PFA and SFWA Player of the Year is out on his own as the top scorer in the country and a shoo in for Steve Clarke's Scotland squad heading to Euro 2024 in Germany.

Former Hoops keeper Bonner was asked which of Shankland, Adam Idah or Bojan Miovski he would sign for Celtic, and he claimed that Idah and Miovski would be better fis for Champions League football, despite neither having played in the competition. He wasn't sure if Shankland had it in his game to close down players at the highest level. READ MORE

Sadiku on 'good relationship' with Rodgers

Celtic Women boss Elena Sadiku says she has a 'good relationship' with Brendan Rodgers, and they wish each other luck before games.

The Hoops men's team got their hands on the league title today and tomorrow it will be over to Sadiku's side to get the business done. They are level on points with Rangers but their vastly superior goal difference, 16 better off, means that any win over Hibs would guarantee them a first ever title.

And Rodgers will be rooting for the Ghirls to make it a double.

Me and Brendan have a good relationship. He wishes me good luck before games and I do the same (with him). We have a good communication, so I know that he wishes the best for us.

Brendan back in the good books

Brendan Rodgers hugs his daughter

Brendan Rodgers reckons he’s back in the good books with his Hoops daft family after making the most of his return to Celtic.

The boss admitted his nearest and dearest were left gutted at his departure from the club in 2019 and it made him determined to one day come back and add to his Parkhead legend.

Rodgers came through a tough season to get his hands on the Premiership title again and he knows when it means to everyone around him.

I saw it was here the first time and when I left it absolutely deflated family and friends and it was never the same for them.

I have to say, it's my professional life so I have to chose at times where I go.

But I know coming back here, what it means to so many people, in terms of family.

And now they can enjoy these great moments as well. Listen, Celtic very much is a family and I am just so happy that I can help make the lives of Celtic supporters happy throughout the world.

That's eight out of nine trophies that I have had during my time here and I hope and pray that I will keep adding to that and have as much success as I possibly can.

I just didn't want how I left, and the reaction to that, to be the big full stop on my Celtic story.

Because this club means everything to me. Growing up, supporting it, understanding the history of the club and what it means to so many people. I didn't want that to be the story.

So I was really determined to come back, one to have even more success this time around.

Rodgers has set his sights on the Scottish Cup and he’s already plotting on making Celts even stronger next season.

Once we got those early months out of the way we are starting to see us grow and develop, and now I am really excited about the future that we can have here.“If we finish this season and have a really strong pre-season both in terms of preparation and getting quality players in, then hopefully we can elevate the game to a more consistent level.

Because at times we have been really, really good this season, despite what people will say.

Look at our performance the other night, look at Dundee, there's been other games where we have been so good, but that gets lost. But we need to be more consistent next year and if we do that then we can have another great season.

This time next week

There will be a party in Glasgow's east end tonght but it's not time to fully unwind and drink it in just yet. That will be this time next week.

The Scottish Cup final brings the curtain down on the season and Celtic will be determined to make it a double and ram home what has been a successful return to Glasgow for Brendan Rodgers so far.

They finished eight points ahead of Rangers in the league and are the firm favourites to win another Scottish Cup at Hampden next weekend.

And if they do that, then it will be time to crack open the beers.

Taylor drinks it in

Greg Taylor says this year's title is all the sweeter - because they've had to earn it the hard way.

The Hoops were pushed hard by their rivals this season but ultimately prevailed - and on their best points total since the Invincible Treble campaign.

Every title is different. Last year was a bit more plain-sailing. The character the boys have shown this year is unbelievable, at the business end of the season, the consistency and quality, we've come to the party.

Today was a wee bit strange because we'd done the hard part. But it was nice to win and 93 points is a nice total.

Was there a point where he knew they'd power on and become champions?

The 3-3 at Ibrox was a big result. It meant we still had full control, because until then it had been nip and tuck.

Rodgers hits back at 'personal' digs

Brendan Rodgers admits he took some 'personal' criticisms to heart early in his second spell at Celtic - and even showed his players some of the negative headlines.

The Irishman had a job on his hands to win back many fans who hadn't forgiven him for the manner of his 2019 departure, but when he lifted the trophy earlier this afternoon, there were few left who would question he's the man for the job.

Criticism is fine, it's all part of the game, it's when it becomes personal, that's when it oversteps the mark for me.

No doubt (it overstepped the mark). I actually showed, from August 26, the headlines were negative. I actually showed the guys today, before we came here, the story that was created all season, the narrative, and all the various people and all the various headlines. Some were professional, some were personal.

I always said we would write our own story, and it's not just a professional sport lesson, it's life. You'll get criticised, but as long as you stick to your own storyline, you'll be ok."

Robbo gutted

Stephen Robinson was gutted to go so close to causing a Trophy Day shock.

But the St Mirren boss is convinced things are looking up for the Buddies after a remarkable campaign. The Paisley men sealed a top five spot and European football for the first time in 37 years – and a 3-2 defeat at Parkhead wasn’t going to take the shine off their superb season.

We were disappointed in the last goal – and the two other goals. That was the only disappointment of the day.

But in terms of the performance, the character and the quality we showed to go tow to toe with a Celtic team that’s just won the league speaks volumes about how far we’ve come this season.

Everyone from top to bottom, from the board to to the playing staff, plays such a big part in the season and the reward is European football after such a long, long wait.

It’s not just my work or the staff’s work, it’s more the playing staff and non playing staff. Everyone has put us into this position and deserves their success.

O'Riley - 'It would be tough to leave'

Matt O'Riley admits it would be difficult to leave Celtic in the summer because the club 'means so much' to him.

The midfield maestro saw firm interest from Inter and Atletico in January - the latter seeing a bit booted out amid O'Riley's stunning form.

His goal against St Mirren took him to 19 goals for the season so far, and he has also notched 18 assists. But would it be tough to leave in the summer?

That's a tough question. It would be very difficult. I've said before, the club means a lot to me. Right from day one, I fell in love with the club because the fans are so crazy and passionate. It's a proper family. One more game to focus on, and take it from there.

Champions!

Celtic's Callum McGregor and Joe Hart lift the cinch Premiership trophy

O'Riley reacts

The goal and assist king has been brilliant and modestly claims luck has been a factor behind his incredible season.

But he batted away any talk of an exit until the Scottish Cup Final is sealed.

Santa is back!

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down the Celtic Way.

That's right! the man himself was BACK at Parkhead this afternoon to HUGE cheers as he brought on the Scottish Premiership trophy ahead of the players getting their hands on the title after a five-goal thriller with St Mirren to round the league campaign off on a high. Emotions were in the air for Joe Hart who signs off from Glasgow's east end - with just a big one at Hampden to come.

He was set to be the star of the show today, however, one man may well just pip him to that title. Supporters were so sickened with what they witnessed from their team during the home defeat to Hearts earlier in the campaign that they took it out on Santa, who failed to bring the club any festive cheer during a half-time appearance. However, it was a full circle moment in the sunshine in Glasgow he walked out to huge applause and milked every single moment.

Hart grabs the megaphone

And he takes the Kieran Tierney role.

The keeper is leading the charge for the wild celebrations.

Rodgers and McGregor head down to ultras

The captain and manager head down to the ultras to continue the party.

Super Joe

Joe Hart walks off the pitch as he is substituted

And Joe Hart's name rings aloud

The players walk the pitch

And Brendan Rodgers speaks to Sky Sports.

Palma brings the moves

The winger does a wee traditional dance before hoisting it aloft.

The players are loving it!

BREAKING! Celtic lift the trophy

Hart and McGregor lift the trophy together!

Fans are utterly loving it as a chalenging season end with the title once more.

Santa is here!

This is epic.

Booed in December, cheered in May.

Fair play to Celtic for playing into the toughest part of their season.

That's the way to do it!

Rodgers takes the mic

Brendan Rodgers speaks after Celtic's big title win.

He admits he put himself under pressure but only because he believed in the club he loves.

Rodgers points out the final tally of 93 points – the third best haul in the past nine seasons – as he now goes to get his medal.

Hart and the skipper speak

Joe Hart has been moved to his core as he paid tribute to supporters in his final game at Celtic Park.

He says it's a club you don't need to explain to anyone. And he echoed his emotional interview from yesterday.

McGregor is effusive in his praise. He admits it's a difficult season and waxed lyrical about his manager.

Three wise men

Rodgers, McGregor and Hart enter the pitch first and the retiring keeper will speak first

Here we go!

It's trophy time

3 talking points from Parkhead

Matt O'Riley celebration

THREE TALKING POINTS.

1. CUP FINAL FLOW

Rodgers had a management balancing act ahead of the Scottish Cup Final against Rangers as regards resting individuals whilst maintaining the flow within the performance and had to decide which players to leave out of the starting line-up. Looking at the side, he clearly wanted rhythm maintained in the middle with another goal for O’Riley and an assist for Hatate ensuring that went well. Three of the back four likely won’t start at Hampden and were unconvincing at both of the Saints goals. Welsh had to go off just after an hour with an injury. In attack, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest are set to return either side of Kyogo. The Japanese scored a terrific goal, but, even if it was an option, the wide boys surely didn’t do enough to force their way into the Hampden team, even with Palma scoring the winner.

2. SUPER SAINTS

Stephen Robinson has brought an end to the Paisley club’s 37-year exile from Europe and this was another day for celebration. In the end, they did have enough to get a result out of Glasgow’s East End, but that was largely irrelevant. Their supporters, who are planning trips abroad later in the summer, lapped up the first-half goals from O’Hara and gave their heroes a send-off fitting of the campaign they have had after a performance which summed up the term. Full of endeavour and spirit and refusal to roll over.

3. SUPER JOE

Celtic supporters have taken Joe to their Harts and the banner tribute at the beginning of the second period for the keeper would have meant plenty to him. The Englishman could not do anything about the two O’Hara goals with the first finish fierce and the penalty expertly struck. The ovation as he went off in the final seconds to be replaced by Scott Bain was emotional and loud. It’ll take a big character to step into his position next season and that is one of the positions Rodgers will have to look to do business during the summer once Hampden is over. Celtic did not do impressive work in the window with the change of manager obviously having an effect. Rodgers will have a good idea already about what he wants and the club must try to get it.

Baking hot day

Joe Hart and Scott Bain

And before the fans migrate to Merchant City – it's time to lift the trophy.

Pure emotion

Joe Hart and Callum McGregor

Two leaders, two winners and it's an emotional one.

Full time: Celtic 3 St Mirren 2

No added time!

And the champions win as Palma's late winner seals it for the Premiership winners.

A cracking game and another example of Stephen Robinson's gutsy team.

Now the real party can start!

Hart's standing ovation

Wow, what a reception as he is subbed off and the crowd love it.

Bain is on the final few minutes.

No tears now, more smiles as he loves it!

GOAL! Palma scores the likely winner

Patient play and Ralston's stunning cross picks out the Honduras winger at the back post.

A decent day for the forgotten man and what a way to crown it.

Ralston down

A sore one to the mouth bu he should be able to play on.

And Celtic wll want that as it allows them to, potentially, sub off Joe Hart for a final send off.

Another penalty claim

Dunne wants one on Scales but no chance.

Another St Mirren corner.

St Mirren back on the charge

And going direct in search of a winner.

Cal Mac receives ovation

And deservedly so.

He was on it and gets to rest up ahead of Hampden.

Ralston fires wide

Gogic's slip spells danger but the Saints survive as the rampaging right-back fires well wide.

But, for the first time in a while, Celtic turn up the heat on a baking hot day in Glasgow.

Kuhn gives Tanser a nightmare

The winger, who has been flitting in and out of thise one, skins Tanser but his tepid cross is straight into the arms of Hemming.

Celtic aren't creating as much as they were and this game feels, relatively speaking, well poised heading into the final 20 minutes.

Triple subs

Idah, Scales and Iwata are on for Hatate, Kyogo and the injured Welsh who has his arm wrapped in his strip to act as a temporary sling.

This shoulder complaint has ruined his season.

Welsh nightmare

The defender has toiled mightily here and is now injured.

Another penalty appeal for Olusanya as Ralston but again it won't be a spot kick.

Nawrocki saves the day

Olusanya again as the sprightly forward gets in behind but the Poland defender is alert and blocks for a corner.

Bwomono penalty appeal fails

O'Riley kept his hands down and it wa quickly waved away.

Then Olusanya turns wide after more sloppy Celtic defending.

Celtic pile it on

Kyogo goal

Multiple corners and dangerous crosses but St Mirren are standing tall.

Palma deliveries cause chaos

The winger's wicked crosses from dead balls have been a menace from the first whistle.

Taylor has now cleared two of them off the line.

Celtic back on the charge

The champions are seeking another win and they dialling up the pressure.
