Dynasties aren't only existent in the political scene. In fact, the entertainment industry has its fair share of having clans and families under the same spotlight of the business. An example of this is the Cruz Clan, which is composed of three family units showcasing their talents in the performance arts both on TV and the big screen.
On one side is the family of Tirso Cruz III and his children: TJ, Bodie, and Djanin. The 62-year-old actor is the other half of the popular loveteam of the 70s "Guy and Pip," with Guy being the moniker for actress Nora Aunor. During their heyday, they made a total of 14 movies, a TV special, product endorsements, and appeared on radio programs. TJ Cruz was part of the youth-oriented show "Ang TV" in 1992. Unlike his father and brother Bodie who continued in the entertainment industry, he left showbiz in 2003. Elmo Jeremiah Cruz or Bodie was also once a mainstay of Ang TV but was shown in a different light after joining the second season of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother. He appeared in Pasukob (2007), Praybeyt Benjamin (2011), and Bride for Rent (2014). Djanin Cruz recently showed off her acting skills in a primetime teleserye, proving that she is indeed from a family of showbiz royalty.
The second unit that makes up the Cruz Dynasty is composed of siblings Boyet and Yolly, both cousins of Tirso Cruz III. The former is the parent of Geneva while the latter is the parent of Donna. The two ladies are both singers and recording artists popular in the 1990s.
On the third unit are siblings Beth, Danny, and Jesse Cruz. The late Jesse was known in the business as Ricky Belmonte, a popular actor in the 1960s. His kids with Rosemarie Sonora, Sheryl and Renzo, also entered the industry. Sheryl started her career at a young age and garnered a number of awards in her childhood including FAMAS Best Child Award for "Mga Basang Sisiw" and Best Child Actress for "Roman Rapido". Alongside Romnick Sarmienta, they formed one of Philippine cinema's most memorable loveteams. She popularized the song "Mr. Dreamboy" in the 1980s. Renzo appeared in Noah (2010), Mara Clara (2010), and Walang Hanggan (2012).
Sheryl and Renzo are both first cousins of Sunshine Cruz, wife of Cesar Montano and daughter of Danny. Her most recent projects include teleseryes Pure Love (2014) and Anak ni Zuma (2013).
The three artists are all immediate cousins of Rayver and Rodjun, sons of Beth. Rayver is regulary seen on the dance floor of the noontime variety shows and also landed major roles in primetime shows like Spirits (2005), Rounin (2007), and Bukas na lang Kita Mamahalin (2013) to name a few. His older brother Rodjun is also an actor and dancer like him. He was casted in the TV series Calla Lily in 2006.
With such display of performing skills in their lineage, one can only assume that talent may, after all, be in the genes.
