...RCB have been knocked out of IPL 2023
...and Mumbai are the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs!
Gujarat Titans win by 6 wickets

Death Overs: GT 198-4 (19.1 overs)

...And now they've lost Shanaka too, right after the wicket of Shankar. However, the Shubman barrage continued, despite Miller departing early and struggling to time the ball, and with 8 to win off the final over after some meaty blows, Shubman Gill single-handed carried Gujarat over the line, slamming a six for the winning runs and to get to a stunning hundred - his second of the season!

Middle Overs: GT 148-2 (15 overs)

97 runs in this 9 over phase, thanks to Shubman Gill, who got to his fifty, and some excellent hitting towards the end of this phase by Vijay Shankar, including a 106-meter six, to get to his fifty. And then, he loses his wicket the very next ball. This is all leading to a thrilling finish, with Gujarat Titans holding the advantage simply because they've only lost two wickets!

Powerplay: GT 51-1 (6 overs)

Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell, both had a plan to Saha - nothing close to the bat. And eventually Saha gave his wicket away, wilting under the pressure, once again to the master of the powerplay - Siraj. However, Shankar and Gill played their shots and got GT to a respectable 51-1 at the end of the powerplay. However, they struggled to get going in this phase, getting many of their runs through edges. More importantly, they haven't been up to the mark with respect to the required run-rate. Can these two get the chase back on track?

INNINGS BREAK

Death Overs: 197-5 (20 overs)

They don't quite get 64, but they get 61 in the last five, courtesy a second successive hundred from Virat Kohli, who now has the most IPL hundreds, and it couldn't have come at a more crucial time, in a must-win game for RCB. Kohli was in full flow, aided ably by Anuj Rawat and together they lifted RCB to a VERY competitive 197-5. Can they defend this and get into the playoffs? Or do more twists await us tonight?

Middle Overs: 136-5 (15 overs)

The introduction of Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan did it again. The usual suspects combined, with Noor getting rid of Faf, Rashid knocking over Maxwell, and Noor getting Lomror stumped after that. Kohli remained unbeaten, and remains RCB's last remaining hope for a competitive total! A brisk fifty from Kohli lay the platform, but if RCB are to qualify, he can't be done yet. They have lost Bracewell, the man who helped Kohli rescue RCB, and Dinesh Karthik for a first-ball duck. Can RCB get 64 more in the last 5?

Powerplay: RCB 62-0 (6 overs)

A couple of quiet overs, one from the best bowler of the tournament, Mohammed Shami, and Yash Dayal, as seen when Rinku Singh did the unthinkable. However, it was Faf who took on a rampaging Shami with four boundaries in his second over (albeit including a few mishits), which drove Kohli to smash Dayal in his second over for a hat-trick of boundaries. Even Rashid and Noor Ahmad weren't spared, taken for 19 off their two overs cumulatively. However, powerplay scores have been awfully misleading throughout the IPL. Can RCB sustain their momentum?

A bit of drizzle once again, just five minutes ahead of start of play. The pitch if covered, and we might have a short delay once again.

TOSS: Gujarat Titans win the toss and elect to bowl first!

Rain stops in Bengaluru: TOSS scheduled for 7:45PM IST, match to start at 8:00PM IST.

The scenario

It's simple for RCB: they need to win to get through. MI need GT to win, or pray for more rain in Bengaluru. RR are officially out. It's basically MI vs. RCB now.

It's officially MI vs. RCB for the 4th spot now. RR are officially out!

Hail Fire in Bengaluru

Hail or high water? Both, spoiling RCB's chances in their home city even for a truncated contest. For now, it's raining too hard to have a toss...

And at the Wankhede, Cam Green is on 99* with one run to win... and he inside-edges a boundary to deep midwicket to take Mumbai home - with 12 balls to spare! They've chased 201 - AGAIN - with two overs to spare!

The big-picture last-over finish

Match 70. Day 52. And it comes down to this. It's hailing in Bangalore. Their own city's pride, its weather, has turned against them. Hailfire >>> Hellfire in Bengaluru today. MI, at the Wankhede, are cruising to their target of 201, courtesy a Cam Green special and a timely return to form by Rohit Sharma. Can Bangalore provide ideal conditions for today's last-lap finish?

Will the weather gods of the city support their beloved team? They take on the best team of the tournament to cap off the league stages, and there couldn't be a better climax to the league stages of the 2023 IPL. Provided we actually have some cricket of course. And the Chinnaswamy does have one of the best drainage systems in the country... Fingers crossed.
