OG Series
i really like the entire OG series but i particularly love love love the first season!!! i mean the whole high school scenario, serena being the it girl, serena and dan’s relationship (which got a little toxic in the later seasons imo), jenny being so interesting, blair being iconic and the queen of the entire school, the uniforms (ugh love the uniforms!), the fabulous parties, no ivy and no🦵(im sorry for those who liked her, i personally didn’t), the start of blair and chuck’s chemistry (before it became a little complicated, JUST MY OPINION - i mean yeah i love them but their chemistry in the 1st season was epic), the involvement of blair’s minions (kati and isabel), jenny and eric’s friendship, and i also feel like the 1st season had the most “look how rich and glamorous our lives our” scenes which were iconic and the whole purpose of GG imo. moreover, the entire first season gave me the “rich kids having fun” vibes where they actually enjoyed themselves and if i recollect all the scenes of blair ACTUALLY laughing like she’s enjoying, it’s in the 1st season, and i love that! (also, that car scene was so iconic where they were all in the limo driving up to a party, drinking some champagne and listening to music and ACTUALLY ENJOYING! just so refreshing to watch!)
all in all, the first season is THE SHIT and no one can change my mind abt that ;)
i’d really like to know which season u guys think is the best!

Most teen dramas drop in quality after the first or first couple of seasons. The O.C. by the same creators also shared a similar fate. The good thing about Gossip Girl is that at least it always remained true to what it used to be and it didn't become a parody of its former self like Riverdale or PLL.
I think S1 was the best not only because of the vibes, but because every single character had an actual storyline and purpose to be there. For example there was all the mystery about Serena's disappearance, her coming back, her family issues, first connection with Dan, their parents knowing each other, Nate cheating on Blair with her and finally Serena thinking she killed someone. Same for Nate. He wanted to break free from doing what his parents wanted, including dating Blair and had the whole storyline with his father. But in later seasons, both Serena and Nate were just too pretty people dating other pretty people. There was barely anything interesting about them, they felt like side characters after a while.
Jenny and Vanessa also shared the same fate. They were quite interesting characters, especially Jenny, but then everyone had to turn into unlikable/villains so Chuck and Blair shined more.
