In keeping with his British show, The F Word, celebrity chef Ramsay aims to promote family meals with this new, cleanly designed paean to home and hearth. Chapters are divided into individual meals, each with a theme and three courses (Mediterranean: pan-roasted scallops with cauliflower puree, herb-crusted rack of lamb, and baguette and butter pudding), with Ramsay providing a helpful plan of attack at the outset in order to better time the proceedings. There's a decidedly English slant to his roasts and puddings, but Ramsay also allows for flavors of the Middle East, Malaysia, and Spain to seep into his fare. In book form, Ramsay is a gentle guide—and not nearly as demanding as he appears on his shows Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. One idiosyncrasy is that his oven times are devised for convection appliances, so those without need to increase the temperature by 25 degrees Fahrenheit. For some cooks, these meals will feel a bit heavier and more formal than what they're accustomed to cooking at home, but Ramsay is full of good ideas (saffron and cauliflower soup; pan-fried sea bass with broccoli sorrel sauce; cardamom custard tart) for enlivening the ordinary. Scottish by birth, Gordon Ramsay was brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and initially aspired to be a professional soccer player but an injury put an end to that and led him to the kitchen. He's trained with some of the world’s leading chefs, such as Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London, and Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon in France. At the age of 31, Ramsay set up his first wholly owned and namesake restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which quickly received the most prestigious accolade in the culinary world – three Michelin stars.

Now internationally renowned, Ramsay has opened restaurants around the globe including in London, Las Vegas, Singapore, Baltimore, Europe and Dubai. Ramsay has also become a star of the small screen with hit shows in both the UK & US. From Gordon, Gino & Fred on ITV, Gordon Ramsay's Bank Balance on BBC to FOX's MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, Hell's Kitchen & 24 Hours to Hell and Back as well National Geographic's Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted which airs in 172 countries.

Ramsay has seen success in a variety of other ventures outside of restaurants and television including his online MasterClass, and Mobile Puzzle Game, "Chef Blast with Gordon Ramsay." This is in addition to his highly successful YouTube channel that has various cooking formats including his widely popular series "Ramsay in 10" & "Scrambled." Ramsay also loves to TikTok with his daughter Tilly.

In 2006, in recognition of all that Ramsay has contributed to the industry, he received an OBE (Order of the British Empire awarded by Queen Elizabeth II). Since then, Ramsay and his wife, Tana, set up the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation in 2014, to make a meaningful difference to the London-based children's hospital Great Ormond Street.

I'm a big fan of Gordan Ramsay. Bought this book for my wife's birthday. What a disappointment! There's not a single recipe inside that we would cook. The photographs are terrible, many of them even out of focus. Did Ramsay even see this book before it went out to the public? Don't waste your money.
