"The beginning is the end, and the end is the beginning. Every connection in one world must also be closed in the other world. Everything is connected. In light and in shadow."
―Eva[src]

Martha Nielsen was one of the two main influencers of major events in the Knot, born to Ulrich Nielsen and Katharina Nielsen. As a teenager, she encountered Jonas Kahnwald, a traveler from another world who introduced Martha to the mysteries of Time Travel and World Travel. She learned about the time cycle and how her world was doomed in the Apocalypse, being tasked by her adult self to try and prevent it with the help of Jonas, whom she fell in love with and slept with. However, when they were on their mission, Jonas started doubting Martha's elderly self Eva about their actions, and when they confronted Eva, Martha witnessed her slightly older self shoot and kill Jonas, traumatising her.

In her effort to stop the apocalypse, Martha was recruited into Sic Mundus, meeting Adam, the elderly Jonas from a different reality who sent her to his Apocalypse to rescue Jonas, but she was intercepted by Bartosz Tiedemann. Upon returning to her world, her older selves convinced her to join Erit Lux to continue preserving the Knot to ensure their son, the Unknown, lived. Martha repeated the actions of her older selves, killing Jonas and writing a letter to Jonas. In the aftermath of Adam killing Eva, Martha was motivated to antagonise Adam, taking on the role of Eva. As she grew old, Eva and her society manipulated events in both worlds to ensure the cycle remained unchanged, being the polar opposite of Sic Mundus' goal. When Adam confronted Eva for the final time, Eva accepted her fate but then realised that Adam had successfully altered the cycle, not killing her and explaining that the Knot's creation took place in the Origin World, and that their younger counterparts were going to prevent it. Adam and Eva tearfully made amends and, when the deed was done, spent their last moments together before being erased from existence.

Biography[]

Background[]

Martha was born in 2003, the second child of Ulrich and Katharina Nielsen. She was brought up, along with her siblings, in the Nielsen family home, her father's childhood house.

After her father's affair causing her parents' divorce and his subsequent marriage to Hannah Nielsen, she and her family grew distant from him and left his house to stay in what used to be Kahnwald family home.

2019[]

November 4[]

Lightning comes out of the nuclear power plant, and forms a wormhole. Martha from the other world tells Jonas they do not have time and places an orb on the ground, which makes them disappear from that world, and takes them to the caves. Jonas demands to know who the mysterious Martha is, and she tells him it's the day everything started - when they met each other. Jonas is confused, but Martha tells him that on that day, their worlds formed a knot that is inextricably intertwined. She places an orb on the ground again, and tells Jonas she will make everything right before leaving.

Katharina reminds Martha to go with Ulrich

Martha was less than pleased to be reminded she needed to go with her father.

The present version of Martha wakes up shaken by her dream, sweating as she puts some pants on and goes down to the breakfast table. Mikkel is playing a videogame, which Katharina tells him to turn off. Martha asks Katharina what's wrong with him, and Katharina tells her he had been having the same nightmares. Martha tells Mikkel that maybe it wasn't a dream, and that maybe the here and now was one, and none of them were real. Mikkel laughs sarcastically and the lights in the house start flickering, as Katharina takes his videogame away. Katharina offers them rides to school, but they decide to go on their own. She also reminds Martha that the next day they would be staying with their father. Martha is annoyed by this, but heads off for school.

Martha rides on her bike through the woods, using a jacket akin to the one Jonas has. She stops to look at the power plant, and looks at a poster which says Erik Obendorf is missing. She walks into school, and Magnus tells her he won the race to school. They have a small argument, until Bartosz Tiedemann shows up. They give each other a handshake, and Martha asks if he had seen Kilian, to which he responds that he had not.

Martha and Kilian kiss

Martha and Kilian kiss.

Kilian Obendorf shows up, and says hi to Martha, who kisses him. Bartosz asks about Erik, Kilian's brother, but Kilian says they have no news on him. They hear an announcement on the school's PA in which Katharina summons all students to an assembly in the gymnasium. Magnus points out that it could be relating to his brother, and Kilian replies that Erik had never left home for two weeks, and when things got complicated he would contact his family, but this time they had not received any messages. They head to the gymnasium.

Martha confused

Martha, confused as Jonas approaches her.

When the school bell rings, Jonas walks up to Martha, who asks him what he wants. Jonas tells her she had not told him why she had brought him to this world. Martha is confused and asks him who he is. Jonas asks if that is a real question, when Kilian walks in and asks Martha to go with him. Afterwards, Martha is rehearsing for the school play. Jonas walks in and sees Kilian kiss Martha on the neck playfully. As Kilian leaves, he tells Martha to meet him at nine o'clock later that evening. Jonas walks up to her again, and she tells him to go away. Jonas desperately grabs her to try to tell her Mikkel will disappear, but she is confused, so he uses the name Michael Kahnwald, which she says does not sound familiar to her, and finds it ridiculous when he mentions that Michael is Hannah's husband. She tells him to stay away from her once again, and leaves.

Martha in shock

Martha taken aback when Jonas mentions deja-vu.

Martha goes to the bridge on her bicycle, and is taken aback when Jonas shows up. Jonas tells her he does not want to harm her, and tells her they know each other in another time. Martha asks him what he is saying, and Jonas tells her she has seen this before - the light, trees, and him. She is having deja-vu, or a "glitch in the matrix". Jonas thinks he knows why he is there: so he can change everything. Magnus arrives, and is taken aback when Jonas asks about Mikkel. Kilian is annoyed at Jonas' presence, and Magnus demands to know how Jonas knows his brother. Jonas is told to leave once again.

In the forest, the teenagers walk as Kilian asks Martha why Jonas acted as if he knew her. Martha says he did not, and thinks it is strange. Bartosz changes the subject by mentioning Nostradamus predicted that the world would end that year, and Magnus thinks that is ridiculous. Jonas walks to the Nielsen's, but finds no lights turned on. In the woods, Kilian is hoping to find Erik, saying the police could have missed something.

Teenagers terrified

The group of teenagers terrified once their flashlights begin flickering and they start to hear noises.

Magnus asks the group if they know the story of the cave monster, which he says is legit. However, as he is going to tell it, they hear noises all over the place, including inside the cave. Their flashlights start flickering, and they start running away from the cave. Martha falls and gets separated from the group. Panicking, she hears a voice calling her name; when she turns around, she realizes it is her covered in a black substance. Not knowing what to think, she runs away.

All over Winden, lights start flickering, leaving everybody in shock. Martha keeps running until she finds Kilian and takes his hand. They run into the bunker while Jonas walks into Mikkel's room and finds him asleep.

In the bunker, Bartosz asks if everything is over, to which Magnus replies that he thinks so. Inside the bunker, a wormhole opens and a kid falls, with his eyes completely destroyed. Opening his jacket, Martha finds a student card, which reveals the kid to be Mads Nielsen.

As Jonas walks away from the Nielsen's house, an old Martha ("Eva") tells him she had waited for him to come back for a long time. She tells him Mikkel did not travel back, would not become his father, and he would never be born. She then asks him if that was not what he wanted. After pausing, she mentions that this world was also damned like his, leaving everything to fall apart in an endless cycle, all thanks to him and her as well. Jonas realizes the elderly woman is Martha.

November 5[]

Magnus and Martha confront Ulrich

Magnus and Martha confront Ulrich when he did not believe they were sober when they saw Mads' body appear.

Alternate reality Martha is on her bed, but gets up when she hears the doorbell. She opens it up and sees her father at the door. Ulrich asks if he can come inside, and Martha allows him. Heasks if Magnus is in the house, and asks Martha to tell him what really happened in the bunker. Martha tells him that she meant everything she had said when she told him the bunker was empty when they got there, but after a light shone, a body fell into it. Ulrich asks if they had taken anything that might have altered their perception, and a shocked Martha asks if he really thought that. Ulrich restructured his question, asking if Kilian had given her anything as Magnus walks down the stairs. Ulrich asks him what he had taken before entering the bunker as well and Magnus asks him if he means it seriously and if he had suddenly become the caring type, as he normally does not care what they do. Martha repeats that what they had originally told him still applies. Magnus asks Ulrich if that was it, as his mother was going to be home at any minute and it would be best if Ulrich left. He also sarcastically comments that it was nice that he had dropped by to see how they were doing. Ulrich leaves after that.

Martha goes into Magnus' room, asking if they could talk. Magnus, however, tells her to get lost, which Martha decides to ignore, sitting on his bed beside him. She asks him if he saw anything else in the woods, but Magnus replies that he had not, and asks what she means. Martha changes the subject and asks if he had ever felt like he was losing his mind and nothing made sense anymore. She says that maybe their father was right and maybe the body had already been there. Magnus is firm and tells her he knows what he saw before asking where she is going when she stands up. Martha looks back and tells him to leave their mother out of it, telling him she would be back before sundown.

  1. Martha goes to the Obendorf's trailer, where she is greeted by Jürgen. She asks for Kilian, who greets her, but asks what she is doing there. Martha tells him she was worried because he was not at the dorm. Kilian grabs her by the arm and they walk, before Kilian tells her he was kicked out. He tells her that Ulrich had called, wanting to know if he had slipped them something. Martha asks if he did, which angers Kilian, who defensively says that he did not. He is sure that the reason people think that is because even though he had not lived in the trailer for years, everybody saw him as someone who did. He realized that the only reason Martha was ever with him was to anger her parents, not caring about Erik or him. He asks her to leave, which Martha accepts without another word while Jonas watches all this from the distance.

Martha walks through the woods and is approached by Jonas. She asks what he wants and Jonas tells her that he has always known her. He remembers when Magnus knocked her tooth out in kindergarten, when Mikkel put spiders in her shoes, and on the class trip in the third grade, he was there. He says that where he comes from, their pasts are nearly identical. Martha concludes that he is insane, but Jonas grabs her and tells her that he knew that she saw herself in the woods the past day, as Eva had told him that she had. Martha is confused, and Jonas acknowledges that it sounds crazy because he thought the same for some time. Martha asks who he really is, and Jonas simply responds that he can show her how everything is connected.

Jonas leads Martha through the woods, and turns his flashlight on. Martha looks back, but decides to follow him into the cave. He leads Martha through a tunnel. Jonas opens the door in the cave as Martha follows.

2052 (time travel)[]

November 5[]

Jana welcomes Jonas and Martha to the future

Martha's first trip through time.

Jonas and Martha exit the cave only to find it is daytime; when they had entered, it was night. There are also no trees, and they appear to be in a desert. Martha is in shock and asks what he did to which Jonas replies that he was told to bring her there because 'she' would explain it to Martha. Martha asks who, only to see an older version of Martha walking towards her, and welcoming her to the future.

November 6[]

Middle-aged Martha shows Martha writings on the wall that are her future, 33 years from yesterday. Martha asks what the door in the cave is, which her middle-aged self describes as a path that connects past and future. Martha asks why there are names crossed out. Middle-aged Martha tells her it is because they will die in two days due to the apocalypse. Martha says that it cannot be real, but her middle-aged self tells her that is what will happen if she and Jonas fail to stop the apocalypse.

Middle-aged Martha tells her and Jonas that they can stop the apocalypse, which is triggered by barrels at the nuclear plant, which they need to stop from being opened. Jonas tells her that Eva had said there was a way to undo the knot so that his Martha could live. Middle-aged Martha tells him that Eva lied to him as there is no way to save both worlds; he must choose one of them. She tells him that everyone can live which is what he had wanted, but he would have to let go of his Martha. Martha is convinced that they both have gone crazy and says that she is going to go home and wake up to realize this was all a bad dream, and leaves.

Jonas chases after Martha. Martha asks him if he believes that everybody is doomed, that everything middle-aged Martha said can't be true. Jonas tells her it is, but he assures her that he knows that there is a way to make everything right again and he will keep looking for that. Jonas and Martha walk towards the caves.

2019 (time travel)[]

November 6[]

Martha and Jonas arrive at her home. Martha tells Jonas she had a feeling they knew each other from a dream. Jonas says he is sorry for everything. Martha asks what she was like in his world- if she was any different. Jonas touches her face, she touches his and they kiss. They undress and make love.

November 7[]

Martha wakes up next to Jonas, who had a nightmare of his Martha. They get dressed in silence and Jonas hands her yellow jacket to her and says they need to go. She calls out to him, but then says it's nothing. They head downstairs, where Katharina asks furiously where she has been and where Jonas came from. They hug, and Katharina asks Martha what is wrong, but Martha only says she has to go.

Jonas takes Martha to the nuclear plant and cuts the wire fence. He tells her an accident happened there in 1986 which released a substance that makes time travel possible. He slides through the fence. Martha follows him but receives a cut from the wire below her right eye. Jonas looks at her in disbelief, realizing the Martha that brought him there also had a scratch on her face. He realizes that everything repeats itself, that if this Martha turns into her, everything stays the same and that Eva lied about there being a way to save his world, Maybe she doesn't want them to stop the apocalypse but to trigger it. No matter what he does, things only get worse. He tells her he has to go back to Eva to find out what the truth is. He leaves and Martha goes after him.

Jonas and Martha approach the cave and Martha asks what if it is true that only one world can prevail. Jonas tells her he did not want any of this. Martha asks if he meant he did not want what happened between them the previous night. Jonas says that he is wrong in that world, and does not belong. Martha kisses him and asks him if that was wrong. Jonas hesitates. Martha walks away toward the cave, Jonas follows her.

Jonas's Death

Martha cries over Jonas's dead body.

Jonas and Martha enter Eva's study. He shows Martha the pictures of Adam and Eva and tells her this is what will become of her. Eva enters and announces: "so it begins all anew." Jonas asks her why she lied about being able to save both worlds and demands to return to his world, but Eva tells him there is no way back for him. Eva tells him a human lives three lives: the first one ending with the loss of naiveté, the second with the loss of innocence, and the third with the loss of life itself. She tells him that his life ends right here and now because he has accomplished what he was sent to do in that world but Martha exclaims they have accomplished nothing and have not stopped the apocalypse. Middle-aged Martha enters and tells Martha she will understand everything when it is the right time. A young time-traveling Martha that didn't bring Jonas to the alternate world then enters. Jonas looks at them all in disbelief. Martha approaches the time traveler and asks who she is. Time-travelling Martha tells her she is sorry, pulls out a gun, and shoots Jonas. He falls to the ground as Martha goes to him, starts crying and tries to stop the bleeding. The others all leave. Jonas holds her face to comfort her and hands her the St. Christopher's medal. Martha promises to make everything right before Jonas closes his eyes and dies.

November 8[]

Martha leaves the dead Jonas and walks home. She vigorously washes her bloodied hands and on hearing Magnus walk in, stuffs her bloodied clothes in the trash. He asks her where she has been: Katharina cried all night long because she did not know where Martha was. She tells him that Bartosz was right about the end of the world being today and that Aleksander is trying to cover up some accident at the power plant. However, Magnus questions whether she has gone crazy and tells her their mother does not deserve any of this. Martha reaches into her pocket and takes out the St Christopher medal.

Martha looks in a mirror, reaches for some scissors, and begins cutting her hair until it resembles the time-traveling Martha. She goes to Katharina, who is asleep and wakes up startled. Katharina notices she cut her hair. Martha asks her if she believes in fate, to which her mother responds that she believes we decide which road we take. She tells her that she is there for her. Martha starts to cry and hugs her. She then gets up and says to Katharina that she promised to do something.

With three hours left until the apocalypse, Martha goes to see Bartosz. She tells him that 33 years ago there was an accident at the nuclear power plant which created some strange substance to form, which his father tried to cover up. But it will start the apocalypse today.

Martha tells Bartosz that his father must not open the containers. She begs Bartosz, who calls his father, but on seeing it is Bartosz calling, he does not answer.

Martha and Bartosz meet Sic Mundus

Martha and Bartosz run into Magnus and Franziska.

Bartosz and Martha ride on a bike together to the power plant. Waiting for them are the older Magnus and Franziska from Jonas' world. Martha asks who they are. Magnus responds "Can't you guess?" She realizes it is her brother. He nods and tells her he is from the future but not from hers. He tells her that her older selves lied to her and want the apocalypse to happen. But there is a way to change everything. Franziska tells young Martha that she must choose their world and trust Jonas. Martha is surprised to hear Jonas is still alive. Franziska tells her that he is alive in their world, and he knows where The Origin is. However, before that, she has to save Jonas from the apocalypse in his world and bring him to her world. If she comes with them she can prevent it. Bartosz says they are all crazy. Martha tells him to come with them but Fransiska says he is not one of them and will be saved by the others.

Quantum Entanglement[]

At this point, time branches into three different timelines, all of these leading Martha to different paths.

Martha apologizes to Bartosz and goes to join Magnus and Franziska before they all disappear, leaving Bartosz alone with his bike. Later his adult self comes to him.

He tells her he knows what the origin is and how it's all connected and to trust him. He takes out an orb, Martha goes to him and they disappear, just before the apocalypse hits. At the same time, Jonas escapes just before the apocalypse hits his house.

Eva's World[]

2019[]

Bartosz takes Martha to Eva's study and tells her that Eva and Adam will save them. Martha tells him that they are the ones that made all this happen but Bartosz says they are the light. Eva enters and tells Martha that she did not believe she could ever do what her older self did but 66 years later she can understand. Some pain is never forgotten. They both share the same pain and scars. She strikes Martha with a knife across the left eye so she never forgets which side she is on. Her side is life, Adam's is death.

Eva reveals to Martha that she is pregnant with The Unknown, who is the centre of the family tree in both worlds. Martha is shocked. She later meets her son. Upon seeing her, the youngest version of The Unknown hugs her. They both embrace. Martha starts crying. The Adult version of The Unknown walks up to her and wipes off her tears. November 5[]

Eva tells Jonas nobody knows their end, but their end knows them, and that they cannot escape their ultimate destiny. The choices made in each world may be different, but they converge on the same moment even if they do not occur in the same way or at the same time. She reminds Jonas that even if he thought the world would be better off without him, everybody was going to die: Mikkel, and everyone else. She tells him that the apocalypse in her world would occur in three days.

Eva tells Jonas that their mistake is thinking that everybody thinks they are independent. Jonas asks what the alternate world is, and wonders if it is a copy of his world. Eva asks if he remembers what he told her under the bridge: the light, the woods, and themselves. Jonas concludes by saying that it is a "glitch in the matrix", and once again asks why he is there. Eva tells him that they both are Adam and Eva; both glitches in the matrix. The reason he is there is to save everyone.

Eva shows Jonas necklace

Eva explained to Jonas that he alone could choose if he wanted to save his Martha.

Eva asks Jonas if he ever wondered why he could never let go of Martha even if he knew they could never be together. There was an invisible ribbon between the between the both of them which Adam tried to sever to no avail. She shows him the necklace he gave her, and Jonas pulls out his. Eva reminds him they are always bound and stuck in the same deja-vu. When Jonas asks what she really wants and demands to know why he is really there, Eva tells him that he has already seen what he is going to do as Adam. If he wants to save Martha, he has to choose the side of light and become what she has. Jonas is annoyed at his involvement in everything, however, and tells her he does not have to do anything. Eva is unfazed and tells him to consider what he wants, and asks him if he wants his Martha to live. She tells Jonas that everything repeats itself because nobody wants to let go. She also tells him that it took her a long time to understand that he would always choose his own Martha. And just as he could not let go of her past, she could not let it go either. She reminds him that he had chosen the path Adam had told him and asks him where it led him. Then she tells him to tell the alternate reality Martha how everything is intertwined, and she needs to see her future so she understands what she needs to do. She hands Jonas a flashlight before he exits the room. Eva turns around and looks at the painting of Adam and Eve she had in her study.

The middle aged version of The Unknown told Eva she could have told Jonas what he was going to do.

Eva sits alone in her study as the three versions of the Unknown approach her. They hand her a book with a paper, and old Tannhaus's pocket watch. After the middle-aged Unknown sets the objects down, he mentions that Eva could have told Jonas what path she had sent Jonas on and how it would end. However, Eva says that even if he knew the cycle, he would never stop trying to break it and would not understand that the knot must be preserved and her Martha must die so that all others could live. She takes the book which has two keys and the maps to the power plant.

"The question isn't what time, but what world," she responds, as the house is shattered by the shockwave of the arrival of the apocalypse. The last thing we see is a light flashing from inside the Kahnwald home before it is enveloped in the blast.

2019 (Eva's World)[]

November 4[]

The teens arrive in the caves. Jonas demands to know who the mysterious Martha is, and she tells him it's the day it all began—when they first met each other. This leaves Jonas confused.

1888 (Adam's World)[]

September 21[]

Martha arrives at the Tannhaus residence, where she finds a machine letting off electricity, and find a middle-aged Jonas. Jonas walks slowly towards her in disbelief and while crying, mentions she is alive. However, Martha reveals herself not to be the Martha he knows. Jonas is confused, but she tells him she is there to help him find The Origin, which is the beginning of everything in his world and in her world as well.

September 22[]

Martha wakes up altered after a dream of having sex with Jonas. She looks up and sees older Jonas looking in at her. He tells her to get dressed and leaves. As Martha walks out of the room, she sees Bartosz, Franziska Doppler, and Magnus, who all look at her in disbelief. Magnus hugs her, but Jonas tells him that that is not their Martha. Since they are all confused, Martha says that she is not the Martha they knew, and that she is trying to fix everything.

Travelers talk to Martha

The group of travelers was confused as to what Martha really wanted.

The group asks Martha to clarify what she was saying about being from a different world, and she tells them that her world ends exactly like theirs. Magnus finds that ridiculous because he is not dead, but Jonas asks how she found them. Martha tells him that Jonas had told her, but Franziska is quick to point out Martha had already said there was no Jonas in her world. Martha explains that Jonas traveled from their world to hers, but older Jonas tells Martha that she is lying because he never went to her world. He gets aggressive and asks her what she really wants and if Adam sent her.

A door opens and a blind man tells the group that they need to start the machines, as they are running late. The man points out they have a visitor (Martha), while Jonas leaves. The man touches Martha's face, and tells her she has no reason to fear him.

She later gets visited by Bartosz, who apologizes for Jonas. He mentions that ever since they got there, Jonas has changed. Martha asks how they had gotten there, and Bartosz says they traveled with Jonas just before the apocalypse, but Jonas did not want to go to 1888 - it was simply what had happened. And since they have no nuclear energy in 1888, they had no means of traveling back to another time. Martha asks about the workshop and the blind man, and when asking if he knew where they were from, Bartosz asks her to come with him to show her something.

Bartosz talks to alternate reality Martha

Wanting to find out more about what was going on, Bartosz took Martha to Adam's study.

Bartosz leads her to a door which takes them to a room identical to Adam's study. Martha asks Bartosz what this is, and he tells her it is sort of a secret society, and old Tannhaus is the only one left. Tannhaus's father was convinced he could supersede the rules of time and space, and dedicated his life to doing that, which his son followed in doing. Bartosz tells Martha that Jonas is trying to rebuild a time machine the way he saw it in the future. After this, he reminds Martha that Jonas had asked her if Adam sent her, because Adam had killed Martha. Bartosz asks Martha who Adam is, and Martha wonders why Jonas had not told him that Jonas himself is Adam.

Martha asks to be trusted

Martha asked Jonas to give her a chance to prove herself.

The following day, Martha sees a fight ensue between Bartosz and Jonas, given the fact that she told Bartosz Adam's true identity. Later, Martha is in her room when she hears a knock at the door. Jonas walks inside and tells her that she had told him he had been to her world but he does not remember this and asks her why that is. However, Martha does not know the answer to that, but tells him that she did not write the letter and that he needed to believe her. She asks him what Sic Mundus is, and Jonas tells her that Tannhaus's father had tried to bring his wife back to life because he was convinced that the ability to time travel could save the world, as they could stop errors before they even occurred. However, this would not bring back salvation - only damnation. Martha's voice cracks as she tells him that everybody is dead in her world and she needs to change that. As Jonas is about to leave, she grabs his hand and tells him that she is aware that he does not trust her, but begs for an opportunity to prove that she can be trusted.

She takes Jonas to the woods, where she reveals the orb she uses to travel through the worlds. She opens it up and reveals a small sphere, mentioning that it is the last one she has. She hands the sphere to him while mentioning it is the only way she can travel back again, however she is lying- When Jonas and the rest try to get the dark matter to work, Franziska asks where Martha is. Martha is in her room grabbing a lantern and her orb, and she uses another sphere and places it in the orb. She turns the orb and places it on the ground and disappears as soon as Jonas and the rest of the group enters the room.

2053 (time travel)[]

September 23[]

Martha walks to a door in the power plant and walks inside the room. In there, Adam asks her if she gave Jonas the sphere. Martha nods while Adam admits that Jonas was always very gullible. He tells her that she did the right thing, while Martha looks insecurely at the God particle, which is unstable.

September 24[]

In the night Adam takes Martha to his bedroom in his old house, the same room where Martha sleeps in her world. He tells her that it is here that everything began, in her world. He reveals that her older self lied to both her and the Jonas that traveled to her world: She sent them back to 2019 from 2052 for the sole purpose that they would have sex and conceive the origin, the child that would grow up to give life to the family trees of both worlds and thus uphold the knot. Martha carries the origin inside her, or so Adam believes. Martha is shocked.

September 26[]

Silja locks up Martha. Adam reveals to Martha his true vision of paradise - An unending darkness, where nothing exists. To accomplish this, the apocalypses of both worlds must happen.

Adam has Martha strapped down to a set of steps beneath the God particle. He explains his belief that, in destroying the origin, he and both their worlds will cease to exist. The God Particle starts to kill Martha, as she begs for it to be stopped. The God Particle kills Martha.

Martha's Death

Martha is killed by the God Particle.

Jonas (from the version where Adam saves him from the Apocalypse) jumps at Martha with Adam's orb activated and disappears with her.

1986 (Adam's World)[]

June 21[]

Martha is surprised to see Jonas alive, and is initially happy, but gets angry on realizing this Jonas is not the same one she met. She asks Jonas what's going on. Martha wonders if he knows who she is. She asks him for the date, to which he replies on June 21, 1986: the day their worlds were created. Watchmaker Tannhaus will open the passage for the first time that day. They must prevent this from happening.

They walk to the cave. She asks him where they are going. He tells her they are returning someone from the dead and must get to them before they die. He explains that they are the reason everything happens over and over because they both cannot let go of what they want. They are the glitch in the matrix. Jonas tells her they need to save the Tannhaus family to prevent their worlds from ever being created. Martha asks if he wants their worlds and them to never exist. Jonas nods as she agrees with him. They go into the caves.

They reach the door marked with Sic Mundus and Jonas opens it, as Tannhaus (from the Origin World) activates the time-machine. Jonas and Martha wait as the time-stream begins to form due to the malfunctioning time-machine, connecting all 3 worlds for a brief moment.

Martha sees the vision of Michael and a young Jonas in the time-stream. Jonas says there is a sad young girl at the other side, but Michael gently chides him as he can't see anything beyond the cupboard. The vision begins to vanish as Jonas and Martha reunite. Jonas later configures the device to go to the Origin World.

1971 (Origin World)[]

November 8[]

Martha and Jonas appear in front of the Tannhaus family. They divert the car to avoid them. Marek gets out of the car, berating Martha and Jonas. He asks them if they are okay. Jonas replies that the bridge is not open because there has been an accident. Jonas tells him "what we know is a drop, what we don't know is an ocean". Martha tells Marek that her father loves him and would do anything for him. Marek asks Jonas what he said. Sonja comes out and tells Marek they should go. They get back into the car and Marek tells her they will leave the next day and drive back, back to HG Tannhaus's shop. Sonja tells Tannhaus that the bridge was not open, her son thinks he saw a pair of angels. Marek says he had a feeling. His father hugs him and says he is glad they are here, he hadn't stripped the beds yet. Sonja thanks him and asks him if he would like to hold his daughter: Charlotte while she helps Marek. Martha tells Jonas she is not sure if what they did worked. Jonas tells her he saw her as a child, looking at him. Martha asks him if it was he she saw in her closet: not a dream. She wonders if any part of them will remain or if they were just a dream that never really existed. Jonas does not know. As they begin to fade away, Jonas tells Martha they are perfect for each other, and to never believe anything else as he holds out his hand for her. The two hold hands as they fade away.

The End

We are a perfect match... Never believe anything else.
