Neighborhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

During the winter, this is where the giant Christmas Tree and ice skating are located. In the summer, the ice rink is converted to a roller rink. ( about 45-70$ to rent skates and time in the rink ) Fun to just grab a soft drink or food from the food court located on the rink level - and people watch .Thank you for leaving this wonderful review! You don’t have to look hard to find a great photo opportunity. It’s an iconic spot no one visiting New York should ever miss, it’s beautiful in any season but a couple of visits around the holidays were incredibly breathtaking. Who can resist the decorations snd the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Of course I stopped in FAO Swartz for a bit of nostalgia. Who could resist, right? We're so glad you took the time to visit us! Everything is so harmonious in design, the buildings, the fountains, the art and sculpture. And it functions well, as evidenced by the throngs who come here to skate, eat, shop, hang out, plus all of the workers. Manhattan at its best.We couldn't agree more! Would recommend Rockefeller observation deck instead of Empire State Building (only half the price, less people, great views to Central Park and Empire State Building).Thank you for this wonderful review! So glad we didn't have to queue otherwise we'd have missed the sunset! Definitely worth the extra investment. Elevator was fast, the view from the top magnificent, if a little busy, especially on the topmost terrace. People rather rude, but that's just humans for you. Ice rink at the bottom was open, a beautiful sight all in all.Sounds like you had a wonderful time! The Rockefeller Center is undoubtedly a top New York City awe inspiring destination that will leave its visitors enthralled and mesmerized and one in which entice you to visit again, again and again!!!
In December of 2020, I brought my wife and myself to the Rockefeller Center to celebrate our Happy Four Engagement Anniversary, and we had an absolute amazing experience during our visit.
During our time there, we saw and were dazzled by the beautiful Channel Gardens, and had the chance to take great pictures of the infamous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
My wife and I also visited and shopped at many of the great stores at the Rockefeller Center such as Anthropologie, a popular and well-regarded American clothing retailer.
My wife and I also took part in the Rockefeller Center Tour, and thus able to learn about the rich and storied history of this famous National Historic Landmark as well as learned about its famous builder, John D. Rockefeller Jr. a prominent 20th Century financier and philanthropist and son of John D. Rockefeller Sr, the founder of Standard Oil.
Both my wife and I thank our tour guide, Jacob for giving us a wonderful tour experience. Jacob did a great job in detailing the great cultural and historic importance of the Rockefeller Center, noted the Center’s major tenants and owner, Tishman Speyer, and highlighted the Center’s famous Art Deco architectural style. Jacob also showed us the Center’s major attractions such as the Ice Rink and the Statue of Atlas on fifth avenue.
Following our tour, my wife and I also went and enjoyed our visit to the Top Of The Rock attraction.
Our Top Of The Rock experience was amazing because we had the chance to see and take pictures of New York City’s majestic city skyline, and other major landmarks such as Central Park, the Empire State Building and the One World Trade Center. The
Rockefeller Center’s professional photographer also took wonderful pictures which featured both me and my wife during our Top Of The Rock trip.
All in all, both my wife and I very much enjoyed celebrating our Happy Four Your Engagement Anniversary at the Rockefeller Center, and we definitely recommend for all domestic and international travelers to visit and sightsee this iconic New York destination!!!

Visited over a couple of days whilst in NYC first day was to see the ice rink and to get an idea of crowds and tickets etc so we could return. We also took advantage of the coffee shops here to get in and get warm.
We returned early the following day, the weather forecast was good for going to the TOTR and we paid our $40 fee after waiting in line for 10 minutes and them we were off in the lift (an experience in itself)
The view from the top as you can imagine was fantastic, we loved seeing Central Park from up there. Even though it was quite busy it did not feel overcrowded and we had plenty of space for photos and selfies.
The only downside was the cost of their own photographs they take of you on the steel beam, at 2 images for $34 I thought this was expensive, why do they need to do this?
This is a must do when in NYC and I am glad we did.

I would recommend everyone visiting NYC for the first time to rather visit the Rockefeller Center because it has an amazing view on top of the Empire state building. The negative aspect lies in the intensely high priced tickets, but won't differ from the Empire State building. Definitely recommend of going on top as it is one of the bucket lists items that needs to be done!

We visited specifically for the Radio City Stage door tour (which I reviewed separately) and then visited the shopping mall associated with Rockefeller Center. The buildings and public area are stunning and beautiful. The shopping was fun but kind of what to be expected from NYC. Not a huge fan of NBC TV but there is a large story with all manner of NBC stuff as well as several other fun store in the large mall. Really just soaking in the area that is Rockefeller Center is worth the visit.

It was in my list of places to visit this New Year when I was in NYC. A decade ago when I was here i did Staten Island, Empire Estate and the Central Park. This time I wanted to focus on UN Headquarters, Rockefeller Centre, Grand Central, Times Square, Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge.
I am a lazy tourist. I spend lot of time when I visit any tourist place admiring the view and let the feeling sink in even if that means I need to come back to the city again and again for other attractions. I know I am yet to visit Queens, Long Island and other famous museums But then teres always a next time - Isn't it?
I was at the Rockefeller for close to 2 hours. I started with Saks Fifth Avenue than I did the St. Patrick's Cathedral and finally the RFC. The crowd that gathered for ice skating outside was so much yet so orgnaized. The giant Christmas Tree was so well decorated and the Top of the Rock and its view - Spellbinding. All in all a spot to revisit again on my next visit.

We went here on an evening visit and it just became uncomfortable. Far too many people. Everyone push and shove and not thinking about other people. My wife wanted to leave as it made her uncomfortable. I quickly took some photos of each level whilst she sat on a bench and then we left. We wouldn't go again. OWO and Empire State Building are much better at organising people and not letting it get crowded. I just felt it was a money thing at TOTR. We were even sent away first time and told to come back later to make a booking. So then we didnt travel far as we didnt want to miss a chance to book a slot. I think I'm being generous giving it a 4 out if 5. The view is fantastic though. Maybe that's why. But it isnt worth being a sardine.

So I got to see THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!! WOW! The crowd around it was electrifying but everyone seemed focused on just taking it all in and making it through to their ultimate destinations. Ours was to get to the theater because we had tickets to see the Rockettes! This time I DID play the "age card" and avoided waiting in that long line but was ushered in to sit and wait in the lounge until my show time. The show itself was two hours of nonstop singing and dancing and high kicking!!! No intermission! Another experience that lived up to my expectations! Very exciting and enjoyable! Don't miss it next time you're in New York at Christmastime! I made a special trip to New York just to do all these activities! So glad I came!

It was my guy’s first trip to NYC and We happened to wander by top of the rock and the doorman asked us if we were interested in seeing the view so we decided to take a chance and do it! The staff were all so courteous and diligent about keeping the guests safe and the place clean. There were not a lot of people when we visited so we ended up staying from 5:30-7 and found a nice bench to sit and relax on and enjoy the breathtaking views of the city. Also, the breeze was nice, the sun not too hot, and i felt comfortable in my mask with the pleasant breeze. I’m so glad we did this because normally it’s so crazy busy but it was perfect and I felt completely safe.

We visited the Rockefeller Centre both day and night. I have given an average revue as the magic of the place is taken away by the overcrowding
Night
We visited the Rockefeller Plaza at night to see the tree, the crowds were insane and I have to say a little unnerving. At one point there were barriers put across the street to keep the crowds in one area which I didn't understand as when you had seen the tree you wanted to walk away and get out of the crowd but we couldn't and everyone was stuck for quite sometime, finally people pushed the barriers out of the way and the crowd moved. If it is like that every night around Christmas I would avoid going again and especially if I had children with me.
The tree however was spectacular, beautiful and did not disappoint
Day
A lot less crowded during the day around the tree area but off course the lights do not look as pretty but at least you could get close enough to see the tree and the ice rink
We also passed through the centre inside so we could go to Top Of The Rock. This I would recommend booking in advance as even trying to book the morning of that day all the slots where booked and we had to book for the next day.
I have to say inside the Rockefeller building on the ground level it is also chaotic, understaffed and hot and the que from the ladies toilets was out the door and a long way from the toilet entrance so don't get caught short.
We did visit The Top Of The Rock which was awesome and so well done but I will review that under Top Of The Rock.

We visited the rockafella most nights on a evening walk every night it was very very busy. We didn’t ice skate because of the $48 dollar per a person price tag. If you go inside the shops aren’t as amazing as it sounds was great to use amazon go shop you scan your app pick up your shopping walls out and your charged I couldn’t believe how it knew what you bought.

Several years ago we visited NYC and had an early breakfast in a restaurant with huge windows at rinkside level, watching the professional skaters on the ice before it was open to the public. It looks as if this restaurant is no longer open - can anyone confirm or provide the name if the restaurant?

If you are referring to Rock Center Cafe or the Sea Grill, sadly they both closed. I believe it was late last year or early this year. Hopefully something new goes into the space.
I got a digital code for downloading our photos but could not retrieve them - only digital issues have been issued last June
I am sending emails since weeks to the customer service but no-one is answering my emails
If you are unable or unwilling to provide the Photos please pay me back what you owe me.

We want to visit the top deck & check out the view from there. Is there anything we need to know prior to the trip? Access/fees?Thank you in advance.
Is this a safe enough area to walk around with my 10 year old daughter? It would be just the two of us as it is planned to be a special mother / daughter day.

There was no time restriction on the tickets so can’t see why you couldn’t stay for as long as you want?
