Canucks J.T. Miller apologized to head coach for performance in game 4
Rick Tocchet, head coach of the Vancouver Canucks, says J.T. Miller texted him to make an apology for his performance in game 4 against the Edmonton Oilers
J.T. Miller was brought into the Vancouver Canucks organization for his leadership skills on and off the ice. It's something the 31-year-old takes very seriously, and he showed that after his team's game 4 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in round 2 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Speaking with members of the media today, Tocchet said Miller texted him to apologize for his performance in the 3-2 loss to Edmonton in game 4. Miller was unable to make a play on Evan Bouchard's game winner late in the game, and won just 5 of 19 faceoffs.
"It's an honest group. I mean, J.T. Miller texted me today, 'sorry, I had a bad (game).'"
"This guy's been unreal for me. One play, two plays doesn't define (it). Who cares about that? That games over. He's been a monster force, he'll be a monster for us. That's the way we work around here."
It seems many agree with Tocchet's take that Miller was going over and above what was required of him and what he should feel responsible for. Miller has 2 goals and 11 points in 10 postseason games so far this year.
"Hearing that JT Miller texted Rick Tocchet to apologize for his play last night. Could he have played that sequence late in the game a little better? Sure. But if there's one player who has no reason to apologize for his play it's JT Miller. He leaves it all out there. #Canucks"
Tocchet was not so kind to other members of the Vancouver Canucks following last night's loss. He singled out Elias Pettersson specifically, but said there are five to six players who have been "passengers" in the Canucks 10 playoff games in 2024.
